About this listen

The eighth novella in Quinn's globally beloved and best-selling Bridgerton family series, set in Regency times and now a series created by Shondaland for Netflix. Finally, this is Gregory's story....

Unlike most men of his acquaintance, Gregory Bridgerton is a firm believer in true love. He'd have to be an idiot not to be: all seven of his siblings are happily married. Gregory figures he is just biding his time until the right woman comes along. And so when he sees Hermione Watson, he knows with every fibre of his being that she is meant to be his.

But through Hermione's closest - and slightly less beautiful - friend, Lucy Abernathy, he finds out that Hermione is desperately in love with another man. Sadly, by the time Gregory figures out the right girl is actually the wrong girl, and the right girl was Lucy all along, it's too late. Lucy is to marry another! Now - on the way to the wedding - Gregory must figure out how to thwart the nuptials and convince Lucy that she was always meant to be his....

Critic Reviews

"Light, pacy and full of feisty heroines." (Guardian on the Bridgerton series)

"Julia Quinn's Bridgerton books take all of the classic tropes we know and love...and gives them a thoroughly modern twist. I can't focus on anything else." (Stylist)

Slow but made everything worth it in the end!

It’s actually the only bridgerton book I didn’t really get dragged into it straight away until her wedding! But in the end it made me cry tears of joy!

An interesting story

I would have to say that this book was probably one of the most interesting of the series, I really enjoyed Lucy and Gregory's tale. I also loved Hermione.
Amazing characters for this book. 1000% worth the read

On the way to the wedding

I was getting worried about how the last of the books might play out, being eight books later and all, but Julia Quinn has certainly managed to present another great Bridgerton story. While there a couple more books to go with the Bridgerton’s becoming side stories, I’m a wee sad for this series to come to an end. I’ve really enjoyed ‘growing up’ with the eights children lettered A-H. It would be nice to see Violet re-partner but perhaps that is in another extraneous book…

Was this book even edited?

I've read the previous Bridgerton Family stories and enjoyed them all. But what happened wtith Gregory, the youngest brother's story? I don't know - I felt like it had either never been edited, or the writer was paid by the word!
There was so much wordage, and so little action - I kept waiting for the story to get started. It was like it was on a loop of repeated, unlikely situations with a rather sweet but limp heroine.

Sorry Gregory - you deserved more. I think I will skip the remaining books about the next Bridgerton generation. They might be losing their genetic strength.

I suspect the professional reviewers didn't actually read this, but assumed that book #8 would be as good as the previous stories. Sorry to say it is not . . . .

Pretty good

I wish they had a younger narrator but the story was reality interesting and unexpected but some lines especially the love making part seemed like a copy paste I wish the author could make that part more interesting as well.

Unbelievable and I couldn’t read it all.

I’ve read many of this author’s books and she is genuine a favourite of mine. Absolutely fabulous gift of writing ability. Her stories are so varied and hold the attention. Truly delightful. But this story was plain silly and I had to stop reading. The hero falls deeply in love with the back of a woman’s head. The heroine lacked something, she didn’t have any oomph, she seemed a bit bland. The hero was very immature and I couldn’t get past three chapters. Very surprising as the author usually gives a ten star story in every way.

The Shoot out really was thrilling!

Rosalyn Landor had a lot of different voices to honour in this one and I can say it was a great performance. I still loved Benedict and Colin's story best but this is definitely worth a listen
