About this listen

The eighth volume of A Brief History of the First World War focuses on the controversial American intervention in the Great War: US foreign policy was marked by isolationism and President Woodrow Wilson had focused the election campaign of 1916, all on peace. The outbreak of the war and the continuation of the same in Europe, however, put a strain on the American neutrality, particularly shaken by economic reasons, as well as moral. In the final part of the audiobook contains the "Appendices to the brief history of the First World War": official documents of the time, as the "speech of 14 points" of President Woodrow Wilson, who anticipates the Peace Conference of Paris; or telegram Zimmermenn, which represents one of the first cases of real espionage is still little known.
