Life changing
Geneen Roth has an amazing way with words and emotions. This is the opposite of diets that tell you what and when to eat. In fact, it doesn’t seem to be about food really. It’s more about emotions. A must read for all binge or compulsive eaters or those who struggle with their weights despite ‘good’ diets.

Very insightful.
First of all it’s somewhat comforting to have lots of “oh me too’ moments. Then there’s lots of useful advice & guidance & probably most of all awareness to how you do things & how or where you can possibly change. Loved it. Thank you Geneen.

Her advice is just eat if you want to, she talks about people saying they are fat if they put on 5 pounds, wtf?? Not a book I would recommend to anyone.

I Don't Know How I Truly Feel About This Book...
This book promised healing, but didn't deliver. For one thing the author does not shy away from using words such as "fat" or similar words, which for me is something I don't even want to hear. There is a lot of focus on being able to eat what you want, which I can't really do for alot of reasons. There are lots of activities to do throughout it and unless you pause the recording and write them all down you won't remember to do them. The book should really come with a workbook with the activities in it. I didn't find healing from this book, because I found alot of the methods of healing in it unattainable. If it is useful to someone else or helps them to heal, then that is awesome. There's alot of the author's personal stories throughout the book, but they are personal to her journey with food. The overemphasis on being able to eat what you want oversaturated me with thoughts of food. There is no real, tangible solution to binge eating offered in this book. However I did like the tips of not hiding food, eating whatever you are eating in plain sight if everyone and if you are bingeing you can announce it to someone who walks in the room, aswell as always sitting down to eat. In conclusion, I truly don't know how I felt about this work, other than it left me with a lot of conflicting feelings and no real solution to binge-eating. Oof, even the word is triggering.
