Publisher's Summary
Handsome Frank Rossi took Matty Gilbie away from her working class roots in East London, promising her fame and fortune. As his wife, she would be half of a power couple. But the Wall Street Crash puts paid to all that, and as Frank becomes more violent, Matty flees in the dead of night. Once home in Bermondsey, she goes into hiding, but Frank is on the move, determined to find her and get her back.

Another great Mary Gibson read
I love every minute of the story. Mary has a way of making her characters come alive and I get emotionally involved when I listen to her books

what a struggle! A bit insulting really
Pity the main chracter is such a basic bitch. Hard to feel sorry or relate to someone who gets exactly what's coming for them.
Mattie gets into trouble then has others fight her battles, whilst laughing (literally laughing) about dealing with it herself. But *sigh* don't we all know women are weak helpless things!
