About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

One month. Two rivals. A plot twist they didn't see coming....

Nora is a cut-throat literary agent at the top of her game. Her whole life is books.

Charlie is an editor with a gift for creating best sellers. And he's Nora's work nemesis.

Nora has been through enough break-ups to know she's the woman men date before they find their happy-ever-after. That's why Nora's sister has persuaded her to swap her desk in the city for a month's holiday in Sunshine Falls, North Carolina. It's a small town straight out of a romance novel, but instead of meeting sexy lumberjacks, handsome doctors or cute bartenders, Nora keeps bumping into...Charlie.

She's no heroine. He's no hero. So can they take a page out of an entirely different book?

Set over one sizzling August, Book Lovers is the new chemistry-filled 'rivals to lovers' rom-com from New York Times number one best seller Emily Henry.

One of the best I've enjoyed.

Emily Henry and Julia Whelan team up for a near perfect rom-com. The whole way through this audiobook, I kept thinking how witty and romantic it was. The story unfolded naturally and I had to wait to hear the characters' pasts, unlike so many other authors who shove all the information at you so there's no wondering, no thinking for yourself, no surprise.
The dialogues here were spectacular, fast & witty, and there was a lot of it. Loved, loved, loved it. The author knew how to use sarcasm in a positive way, humorous and natural. Loved that too.
I pre-ordered this knowing it wouldn't disappoint, and it exceeded my expectations. Now I have to wait, what seems an eternity, for another Emily Henry novel.

Great read

Loved the story line ❤️. It was fun, emotional, interesting and not predictable like a lot of romantic novels. The dynamics between the sisters was beautiful. Really enjoyable read, beautiful love story! Thank you for sharing a great story Emily Henry ☺️

The perfect anti-trope romance for the often forgotten older sister

Henry redefines the romance genre by subverting popular tropes and somehow delivering something eternally satisfying to read. Intelligent and witty, this book was an utter joy - one I will relive over and over. I loved the unconventional main character and the surprising plot twists and turns. The dialogue is absent of cringe and the character’s personal journey takes centre stage, while the romance with Charlie compliments her growth. Can’t wait to read her next book, this is a must read.

Nora and Charlie’s story

One of the best comparisons in the book is comparing the FMC, Nora, to Parker Posey’s character in You’ve got Mail; she is the shark in the story. The character is never the FMC in the stories she tries to sell as a Literary Agent. But still she meets her perfect match in Editor Charlie…..
As expected, their story isn’t smooth sailing, but their journey was unusual.
I enjoyed the story, but this book was MADE by the narration! Her expressions enhanced the character interactions and made the listening very enjoyable.
