About this listen

Sister. Liar. Witness. Spy. Traitor?

Her secrets shaped a kingdom. The truth will change history.

Sunday Times bestseller

Jane Boleyn watches from the shadows of the Tudor court. Where nothing is more powerful than a secret. And power rests on the edge of a tyrant King's sword.

She wears many masks - loving wife, devoted sister, and obedient spy. It's what a woman must do to survive.

The only weapon she has is her voice.

They say Jane's whispers sealed the fate of two queens. They called her a liar and a traitor.

But the truth is far more dangerous...

Philippa Gregory brings the Boleyn traitor out of the shadows in an explosive story of one woman's survival in the deadly dance of the Tudor Court.

I highly recommend this audiobook. Philippa Gregory's exhaustive research and masterful writing are once again evident in The Boleyn Traitor. The narration supports and enhances the unfolding, complex story of Jane Boleyn - I am perplexed that the narrator's name is omitted from the title details on the app, as her performance is excellent (only Philippa Gregory's name is listed as narrator). I hope that Audible will correct this omission.
I strongly encourage listeners to continue listening after the conclusion of the novel, to hear the Author's afterword and the Interview that follows. Gregory expands upon aspects of the novel and its context, and then proceeds to deliver a brilliant analysis of the parallels with our own times and society - and the importance of recognizing and responding to tyrants. I am inspired.

The Author's afterword alone is worth the purchase price, but the writing, story and narration are outstanding, too
