About this listen

Growing up in a quiet, middle-class suburb outside of Amsterdam, childhood best friends Anna and Olivia had their whole lives ahead of them. But every parent's worst nightmare came true when the teenagers fell in with the wrong crowd. Eleven years their senior, Ryan was charming and good-looking - and Anna and Oliva easy prey. Blind to his grooming, the girls were soon trapped in a terrifying cycle of sexual and physical abuse.

But their nightmare was only just beginning.

Trafficked to the neon-lit windows of Amsterdam's Red Light District, Anna and Oliva were forced to work as prostitutes, servicing countless men night after night against their will.

Body for Rent reveals the disturbing truth behind Amsterdam's Red Light District, and the shocking ease with which ordinary girls can be exploited. But despite the unimaginable horrors they endured, the damage done to their bodies and their minds, their friendship remained as strong as ever, giving them hope that one day, they would escape...©2019 Olivia Smit (P)2019 Orion Publishing Group

Excellent Book. Very Brave Women.

I did enjoy this. Sad, but True. I lived in Amsterdam in the late 80’s as a young teenager for a few years. I was aware of this operation of Prostitution . But Not Not This Bad. 2 brave women. Unfortunately this ordeal they suffered will be with them for ever & ever.

Hard to hear, well delivered.

So hard to hear such trauma, beautifully delivered. These girls are truly inspiring. At times gut wrenching.

Heart breaking

How brave these two young women are. The narration was excellent. I wish both of them all the very best for their future lives.

Story good narrating poor

A good read. A shocking story which highlights the systems flaws as well as those who are in positions to help such girls. These two brave survivors tell it for exactly what it is, horrific and yet the anger and strength of these two women come through very clearly. The only thing I had trouble with were the narrators, who sounded like they were 14yrs old reading a book and dramatising certain words instead of reading it like those who wrote the book would. The narrators should had read it out as if they were the characters in the book instead of reading it as themselves reading a book in overly dramatic ways.
