About this listen

EXCLUSIVE! Audible Studios presents Body Electric exclusively in audio.

Aria Rose has powers. After ingesting a mystic heart, she now has the same magical energy coursing through her body as the other mystics in New York: she can fly, has super-human strength, and can take on the appearance of any person she wants. This is especially helpful as she is no longer speaking to Hunter, the mystic rebel she abandoned her family to love, and Turk - Hunter’s best friend who is crazy about Aria - is acting a little too clingy.

Aria doesn’t want a boyfriend. She wants a revolution. With the help of her new friends, Aria is now leading the city’s rebellion. Her brother Kyle has control of the Aeries, and is using his influence to bomb the Depths and destroy everyone who lives there.

Meanwhile, he is secretly in discussions with neighboring cities to allow them to overtake Manhattan completely, wipe out the population, and start from scratch. Aria has given up everything to fight for equal rights for the people of New York. She’s their only voice—a voice that is about to be silenced, as it soon becomes clear that the mystic energy in her body is poisoning her.

There’s no doubt about it: Aria will die. The only question is whether she can save the city she loves so desperately from destruction before she expires.

Did not enjoy at all. Trying not to rant.

I was very disappointed that this book was only available as an audio book but decided to give it a try anyway. This is the first audiobook I have listened to.
The entire book was very repetitive and seemed to be reexplaining characters and bits of the plot (which didn't always line up with previous books or even the chapter before) every chapter, was very annoying and seemed like a lot of it was only put in to make the book longer.
The voices were absolutely ridiculous, I could get used to the author's normal voice but the voices Amy Finegan put on for Turk and Ryah were so bad. She sounded like she was a bad actor playing a mobster in a cheap movie. This really ruined a lot of the book for me as a loved Turk in the other books but I dreaded hearing 'him' talk in this one.
Finally, finished it just for Kyle to be bad because of homophobia and daddy issues? Really? In the end, someone else came swooping in to solve their problems and the bad guy decides to change his mind and try to be good because someone said something nice to him? Very disappointed in how the series ended but at least I have finished it now.

Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
