About this listen

First a slave, then a conscript, she’s always been at the mercy of monsters. When she’s offered a chance to unsheathe her claws, will death spill out?

Sal Luxx is desperate to prove her kind are more than beasts. Born a second-class citizen in a world ruled by humans, the hardheaded pure-bred iliri has had subservience beaten into her veins. But her waning hope for freedom surges when she is given a pass to the trials for an elite military unit… and unleashes her inner predator.

After Sal’s interaction with her new brothers-in-arms triggers strange mental powers, the knowledge her abusers have kept from her drives a growing rage. Yet even as she struggles to smother her rising berserker instincts, she’s undermined by the irresistible urge to claim a mate.

Will Sal’s untamable nature spawn a rebellion or a massacre?

** A.H. Hadley is the fantasy persona of the international best-selling author Auryn Hadley. Only the pen name has changed, the stories you'll enjoy have not changed.

BloodLust is the darkly intense first book in the Rise of the Iliri epic science fantasy series. If you like fierce female leads, shocking secrets, and scenes of primal passion, then you’ll love this sharp-edged adventure.

Like all the books in the Rise of the Iliri series, this is a complete epic science-fantasy novel, without a cliffhanger. Due to the subject matter of this series, please check the Sensitivity Notice and the Author's Note page at the beginning of the book for specifics.

So.damn.good - as always with Auryn Hadley

So excited by how many books are in this series and coming audible’s way. Of course I wish I could smash through them all one after the other but just knowing they’re coming is enough…aaaand I don’t think my life could handle being put on hold whilst I devoured them all.

I really admire the intelligent and loving way that Auryn Hadley builds worlds in which the nuances of people and places are explored with a genuine openness and appreciation for collective, shared and individual human struggles and strengths. I enjoy engaging with the characteristics of different characters - the cute and funny ones; the mistrusting and shrewd; the uncertain and the bold. So often I find myself in a moment of resonance with a character or insight and feel a pull to channel more or less of a trait, habit, energy as a consequence.

I respect the shit out of what first came to mind as AH’s fearlessness, but believe is better expressed as balls out raw n real courage - to tackle, reveal, explore and en-courage reflection of ways of human-ing that may be little understood, inadequately thought about and/or all too readily and easily judged.

I always feel like the themes and complexities Auryn Hadley fleshes out and gives form to, are ones that are both ‘emerging’ into, and ‘expanding’ , our current collective awareness AND ALSO, enduring’ challenges and experiences that simply accompany the human condition. What do I mean? Pretty sure I’m wanting to acknowledge that the topics/themes being explored bring instances of say, ‘current day’ (emerging) prejudice and ignorance into focus as well as, the nature of prejudice and ignorance itself (enduring).

Through the light she shines from the characters’ inner worlds, AH humanises and brings topics to life that might be otherwise have the heart and soul theoretically, rationally, intellectualised out of them amidst social, political, economic discourses; the minefield of social media or the battlefield of public opinion.

I study and read alot of books and academic papers and it is such a pleasure and delicious thing when I come across a creative who has intelligence, heart and something to say, and does so in an artful and respectful way. Even better if there’s a good dose of lightness, fun and/or humour. It’s like my brain is reminded how to breathe, my heart unclenches in relief, my spine calmly straightens and some kind of inner happy dance happens as I let go of the world and enjoy the ride of a good book with a solid story

I take my hat off to AH for having written this epic aswell as all the more recent favourites that I’ve devoured on audible.

As for Cristina Cato DAYM that woman is a master at her craft. Nuff said. Ma-ster

At last on Audible!

Rise of the Illiri is one of those book series that become an absolute classic. Many readers have read them multiple times over, and the characters have become like a close family. So happy to have such an incredible job done by the narrator - thank you!

I’m in Heaven!

I have been waiting for this series to be on Audible, and it hasn’t disappointed.
Hearing the voices give a magnificent story even more feeling and power (and a few more heart flutters for Jace!).
I am hanging for all books to be available, I want to listen to this story back to back. This will definitely be a story high on my repeat list.
Auryn, you are a fabulous story teller. ROTI will be amongst the literary romance fantasy classics.
