About this listen

"Bonnie and Clyde meets Kill Bill." - Jenna, Goodreads

His name is Beat, and I should hate him.

Bound, blindfolded and bruised, I'm tied in his basement, waiting for the men who stripped me from clothes and humanity to collect his debt to them. Me.

His name is Nate and I should hate him, but I don't.

I'm not supposed to know his real name, even worse, I'm not supposed to care. He is nothing to me but means to an end. The plan is simple: break free, collect the pieces of my broken soul, kill the bastards and run away.

His name is Nathaniel Thomas Vela, and I've never seen his face, though I hear that it's beautiful.

Behind the rugged and handsome exterior, there's a quiet murderer, a killer who thinks guns are for pussies and ends people with his bare hands.

His name doesn't matter, neither does his face, but what does matter is my heart. And right now, sadly, it's his.

Blood to Dust is a standalone, full-length novel. It contains graphic violence and adult situations some may find offensive.

A brilliant listen with all the sauce

Thoroughly enjoyed Blood to Dust. Brilliant from start to finish and in some ways, for me at least, very relatable. It was a great reprieve to have a strong female character in this book also.

Michael Pauley has got the goods with his narrative. A perfect match to Nate. Michael has beautiful velvet voice, rich in baritones and darn fine to listen to. He was on point with so many various accents, except Irish. It's a hard one to do and pull off well, especially, if your not from the UK in particular. However, in saying that I would love to hear him do other L.J. Shen books in the future!

Terrific execution otherwise. The plot was fantastic and thrilling.

The only downside, was that there was not a female actor for Preston or the other female characters.

I hope that the producers and/or publishers do a second edition please to rectify that in the future.

Thus far, all of LJ Shens stand alone novels, that I've listened to so far have been really great!
Thx to all for making this happen, especially, the author and actor.

Would still definitely recommend a listen or if that doesn't tickle your fancy, read the book instead. :)

Intensely emotional

It's another mind blowing story by L J Shen, I can't believed this beautiful lady can write something this gritty, raw and powerful that sucks the breath out of me. I felt emotionally drained and shocked after listening to Michael Pauley brings Nate and Prescott to life, i was so immersed in the story that when it finished i felt cheated. This is a magnificent book and I highly recommend this to anyone who loves epic love story with a lot of vengeance thrown in it.

Great story, not so great performance

I read this book and loved it, I decided to download audio to listen to some of my favourite books while I crochet. The performers accent drones on and on completely destroying the story. I am disappointed is this telling.

Fabulous narration

I read this book a while ago and really enjoyed it. I loved how fiercely Nate loves Pea, and their journey to happiness. Needing something to listen to while doing some driving I downloaded the audible version. At first it was a little weird having an erotic romance narrated by a guy, but pretty quickly I got into it. Michael Pauley does a fantastic job. He puts pace, inflection, and tone into his narration style and it totally makes the book and it's characters. I hadn't realised what I've been missing from other narration until I listened to him. His gravelly voicing of Beat/Nate is fantastic, and his Prescott/Pea actually works as well. The only mark he missed was the voicing of Godfrey, who's supposed to be English cockney but comes across as Irish. Overall, I love this version and will be looking for other stories that be narrates.

Happy reading!
