About this listen
The highly anticipated inside look at the collapse of the Murdaugh dynasty by the celebrated investigative journalist and creator of the #1 hit Murdaugh Murders Podcast, Mandy Matney.
Years before the name Alex Murdaugh was splashed across every major media outlet in America, local South Carolina journalist Mandy Matney had an instinct that something wasn’t right in the Lowcountry. The powerful Murdaugh dynasty had dominated rural South Carolina for generations. No one dared to cross them.
When Mandy and her reporting partner Liz Farrell looked closer at a fatal boat crash involving the storied family’s teenage son Paul, they began to uncover a web of mysteries surrounding the deaths of the Murdaughs’ long-time housekeeper and a young man found slain years earlier on a backcountry road. Just as their investigations were unfolding, the brutal double murder of Maggie and Paul Murdaugh rocketed Alex Murdaugh onto the international stage.
From the newsroom to the courtroom, to the kitchen-table studio where Mandy recorded her #1 Murdaugh Murders Podcast, Blood on Their Hands is a propulsive true crime saga, an empathetic work of investigative journalism, and an excoriation of the “good old boy” systems that enabled a network of criminals.

Podcast listener -to Mandy’s best seller listener!
Loved this -The only positive thing to come out of the Murders of Paul and Maggie….not to mention the murders of Mallory and Stephen. Completely innocent people lost their lives. People like Stephens Mom Sandy and his twin sister Stephanie have suffered for years- as have the Beach family. Not to mention Gloria Satterfields family. Thankyou Mandy and Liz and David for not keeping quiet and letting this get all shoved under the rug.
Michael would be so proud of his sister!

Good companion to the podcast
I listened to the murder trial then the podcast in full so this was useful learning more about why and how the podcast had come about and it was good to learn more about Mandy and Liz’s journey as female investigative reporters. Look forward to Mandy’s next book!

Why independent journalism counts
Fascinating look at the decline of news media institutions in favour of independent journalists, allowing different voices to be heard. Mandy has done an excellent job of telling her story and that of the victims of Alex Murdaugh and his associates.
Mandy does an excellent job of reading her story!

Great to get a better insight to the story but a bit repetitive
Enjoyed hearing more about the Murdaugh Murders after watching the Netflix doco. I hadn’t listened to their podcast prior to listening to the audiobook. I did find the story quite repetitive in areas where it needn’t be the case so by the end of it, it felt like certain narratives had been told multiple times over. Overall an interesting listen.

very poor
It's a shame that an author has such a limited vocabulary. Could have made a good story.

I is ok
While some of the journalism and research and pretty good, the author shouldn’t have decided to narrate the book herself. Stick to journalism.
