Publisher's Summary
With her death foretold, Althea Zoltaire only has three years to become what she’s always dreamed of being: a warrior legend. Women are forbidden to wield blades, so she has trained in secret her entire life. Now racing against the clock, she fights to secure her place in the elite guild charged with the protection of the five kingdoms.
The sparring and hazing of the new trainees border on deadly, but even more dangerous is her growing attraction to Wilder Hawthorne, her unwilling warrior chaperone. All around them, schemes are afoot and darkness looms.
Will Althea pass the perilous initiation test and take her place as a champion of Thezmarr—or will the invading evil snatch away her dream before it starts?
Blood & Steel is the gripping first book in the heart-pounding, epic romantic fantasy series, The Legends of Thezmarr.

Fantasy Romance at it's best
Loved this book! Just the right amount of questions that actually (eventually) get answered. Just the right amount of tension that actually gets released! No notes

I need to know what happens next
Helen eases you into the story and the slow burn feels excruciating at times. Another incredible world and story by Helen Scheuerer.

it's ok
good book. not to complicated to get into. not very spicy. narration is very slow paced so put the speed up. I didn't like the Wilders voice actors microphone crackled and sounded weird. I'd listen to the next book

The adventure I needed
Helen, you legend you.
I've been waiting to read a book as good as this since I finished Fourth Wing. It's like the Witcher meets Mulan meets Fourth Wing (minus the dragons).
In terms of audio performance, the female narrator was excellent in her storytelling, pace, and tone. My only gripe was with the male narrator, who sounded a little dispassionate at times and didn’t really sell the emotions from Wilder’s POV to me. But other than this it was a fantastic performance all around.
