About this listen
You'd think that life would finally be dealing Mack Smith a kind hand. Living in London and with the opening of the new and improved city version of Clava Books mere days away, things appear to be settling down.
Other than the terrible nightmares about dragons, that is. Or the fact that she's being constantly tailed by a string of mages, shifters, and faeries, all of whom are constantly demanding her attention. And that's without even bringing the temptation of Corrigan, Lord Alpha of the Brethren, into the equation. Then, when a local dryad asks her for some help, things really start to fire up. There are some long, hot summer days ahead.…

Chuckled throughout but Macs character flaw really shines through at the end
I was surprised of the payoff and all the chuckles I recieved throughout this book, I suppose Aubrey added to the humour in this series by being his over dramatic self- sometimes it can be just what you need. When I reached the ending, I felt like Mac is as bad with group manipulation as I am and her own words echoed back to me- there's always another way. I'm convinced she could of given her word without fully disowning her soul mate. Sadly she was bullied into burning everything she cared about. It's somewhat frustrating that she didn't add until the current threat is eliminated, I will cease my relationship with the lord alpha to remain impartial during my temporary role. That may have eased Lord alpha a little. Also, we all knew her fae friend would be a little spitefull when he realised Mac didn't just "have a crush" on someone else. Pooper scooper. This series (so far) feels less rushed than the gift thief series sort of felt? Perhaps I am mistaken, perhaps not.
It's nice to feel like reading again, somehow Helen Harper has got me back into reading regularly after a loss of motivation to do the previously mentioned. I look forward to searching for more authors like Helen Harper, or book series like the Iron Druid chronicles and Ink & Sigil as they fall under similar-ish banners/categories to me.

So much potential then rapey
I really like most of the story and then Corrigan gets pyscho and possessive… it’s not good and so many times I’ve thought about just stopping. But then I won’t know the end and I’ll keep wondering. So, if I could choose again, I wouldn’t start! Heads up if this might apply to you.
