Vampires have taken over the country under the guise of a New Order. To add to the dilemma, they've released a virus that mutates humans so that their blood is more beneficial to the vampire. Trained in herbology and naïve to the extent of the New Order's devilry, Haven goes underground to create a cure for the virus.

Not realizing that the New Order is run by vampires, she heads east to her uncle's farm in hopes that he will help her distribute the cure. Surprises, perils, losses, and love quickly alter her naïve view of life. A strong and determined young woman emerges and the war with the vampires begins.
