About this listen

Box set contains Hostile Territory, Shot in the Dark, and Contingency Plan!

Hostile Territory

Can you call someone an enemy if you haven’t seen them for the better part of a decade?

Deacon Black is perfectly content with the status quo—work, sleep, repeat. Who cares if he’s rigid, structured, and set in his ways? It’s a job requirement that keeps his men safe and his company’s doors open. One phone call is all it takes to upend his life and land him right back into a past he has tried to forget. Revisiting old ghosts is the last thing he needs. Especially when the forced trip down memory lane includes the only woman he never wanted to see again.

Annalise Grimaldi hit the jackpot with her life—from her trust fund to her best friend, she has it all. But her world comes crashing to a halt when her best friend vanishes— leaving behind an apartment in tatters and more questions than answers. There’s only one person she can think of that can help in a situation like this. She hates to make the call, but there isn’t a thing she wouldn’t do to make sure her friend is found. Even setting aside her hatred for Deacon Black.

Shot in the Dark

As an IT expert and hacker extraordinaire, Wren Nelson is no stranger to discovering all sorts of secrets online. He’s a warrior…when he’s behind his computer, that is. And awkward at best in social situations. His long hours with Blackbridge Security don’t really provide many opportunities to go out and meet people. So what is he supposed to do when a wrong delivery—a questionably large box of bedroom toys—ends up in his hands instead of its intended target?

Online stalking has always been his go-to to accumulate information on people, but only seeing Whitney through digital displays isn’t enough. Approaching her doesn’t seem like the best plan either. What he doesn’t know is that this woman is possibly the only one in existence able to give him a run for his money.

Contingency Plan

As a former FBI agent, Flynn Coleman was made for his work with Blackbridge Security. He’s highly trained, has a skill set meant for analysis and investigation, and meant to do important things. Yet, he’s chasing a 20-year-old starlet’s daughter around New York City because the spoiled brat never learned how to behave.

Remington Blair doesn’t need a babysitter, but her parents insist. Keeping Flynn Coleman on his toes will be the most fun she’s had in a while. Besides, just hearing him call her name with that accent is enough to keep her running.

Series contains a band of brothers unwilling to just stand by and watch a woman in need, a foul-mouthed parrot who gets in everyone's business, and a level of steam you may not be ready for.

Disparate collection

I thoroughly enjoyed Book 1, so much so that I bought the next box set.
So, I was surprised that Bk 2 was very different. I didn't enjoy the main characters but the cheeky parrot was hysterical. The suspense was light on, with the resolution happening off screen.
Book 3 was enjoyable with a satisfying ending, although there was precious little suspense again.

Reader

The male voice of the reader was so flat, which at times made me be disinterested. If he showed more enthusiasm with the characters this would be a 5 Star.

book 1

well was the hero a hard ass or what?. I could see this book going longer as it did as there are a lot of little ends that could have been unravelled.
not that this was lacking, Marie has moved the pace along nicely and we have some steam and sexy times thrown in. and the parrot is hilarious 😂
I got a little frustrated at the heroines lacking of backbone.
however, eventually I felt she redeemed herself.
Although if the hero hadn't pulled something out..and fast...it would have been a disaster. one little fray I felt still left me hanging...
I didn't like kincaid, and never picked up one of Maries books to listen.
but it's been a couple of years and I liked the dust cover
definitely a lot better than kincaid.
of course the narrator's are wonderful. you can't beat listening to the many tones of his smooth voice.
I liked Callie as well, she gave Anna her humanness....
glad to have a series...

book 2
I was thinking this hero was a fool and not an alpha...hes a nerd and a hacker, although hot he's no deacon. but his innocence in the ways of women and his hilarious bird endears me to him.
this was more love story than security ops all surrounded with mild tones of bdsm.
he certainly made a plethora of cock ups albeit some hilarious, but the way the heroine is written, it...just... works.
steamy scenes and lots of chest beating..done mutually, against the heroine.
he didn't seem like he could be what the heroine needed, it wasn't really explained that he was like that to begin with but he's innocent geekiness is just a cover ...that works.
but there is a lot of bdsm albeit light. stands to reason due to the storyline.....

book 3
I think I like this one the least. it's the age of the H and H I think, not to mention that Flynn has been portrayed as cool and professional in book 1 and 2. yet
here he falls apart with a 20yr old.... to me, its just cliche and cheesy. like the last 2 men he makes ridiculous decisions that border on stupid, especially as a security ops man. snd there is no security angst or suspense in this story, it's just all sbout love then the cat and mouse chase.... eyeroll...
the parrot is the most hysterical thing on all 3 books but us the best ever in 3.
disappointed in this book is what I'm feeling.
