About this listen
Allen Farrington and Sacha Meyers chart a crash course through the pitfalls of modern economic theory and the world's fiat money system with a hopeful destination in Bitcoin is Venice. What if a global, digital, sound, open-source, programmable currency was monetizing from absolute zero? How might our conception of capital change? What novel forms of capital formation and economic production will become possible? How might they affect the design of social institutions? Can Bitcoin bring about a new Renaissance? With Farrington and Meyers, the discussion is as revolutionary as the answers.

Bold, Insightful, and Intellectually Provocative — with some recognisably opinionated American tone
The author’s insight and boldness in tackling political and economic issues are compelling, and I’m aligned with much of their thinking. While their jadedness drifts into long-winded, ideologically tinged rants — sometimes echoing the very black-and-white thinking they critique — these moments don’t detract significantly from the book’s foundations. There’s an irony in how they call out value-based stereotyping in politics, yet occasionally paint progressives or conservatives with broad strokes themselves, seemingly exempting their own views. Still, these are minor points in the context of a book that is important, thorough, and full of substance. It’s a powerful, compelling read that offers real knowledge value — and for readers who take it on board, hopefully great wealth, security, and happiness as well.
