About this listen

After Paul Stutzman finished hiking the Appalachian Trail, he found himself longing for another challenge, another adventure. Trading his hiking boots for a bicycle, Paul set off to discover more of America. Starting at Neah Bay, Washington, and ending at Key West, Florida, Paul traversed the 5,000 mile distance between the two farthest points in the contiguous United States. Along the way he encountered nearly every kind of terrain and weather the country had to offer - as well as hundreds of fascinating people whose stories listeners will love. Through cold and heat, loneliness and exhaustion, abundance and kindness, Paul pedaled on. His reward - and the listeners' - is a glimpse of a noble yet humble America that still exists and inspires.

Anyone who longs for adventure, who loves travel and stories of travel, and who loves this place called America will enjoy this book.

Monotone narration

I desperately wanted to like this. I kept trying. But the monotone narration meant I couldn’t enjoy it at all

Honor Thy Self

This gentleman under took an amazing journey across a beautiful country. He pushed himself past limits most wouldn't approach and met interesting characters along the way.
His god inspired him and journeyed with him the whole way playing a leading role in the narrative.

Insufferable proselytising made me not finish it

I looked forward to this book as I enjoy books about people walking and cycling across great expanses. The book started off reasonably well but started meandering into his religious beliefs and his expositions about his religion. Then it continued to account how the people he met on the way were ordained by God and recount his discussions with people he met where he pushed his religious views onto others. It just became intolerable and this has been the first book I did not finish in 2024.
