About this listen

Yearning for what they’d left behind and disillusioned by city living, Jack Ferguson and Harry Turner leave Perth to return to the rough opal-mining environment of Coober Pedy, on the edge of the Stuart Ranges in South Australia.

They discover, however, that all is not as idyllic as they remembered. They face harsh conditions, personal trials and a lack of funds. But determination, hard work and a little luck see them begin to establish themselves...until circumstances deal a shattering blow that forces them to consider life’s priorities.

Weighing up their options, they decide to leave Coober Pedy, and, with nothing more than a vague plan and the support of the vivacious and spirited Naomi Wilson, they saddle up their stock horses and head for the Northern Territory - and an uncertain future. But then a chance discovery presents them with an opportunity that will change the course of their lives for ever.

Beyond Tomorrow, the sequel to the Tony McKenna's best-selling Jack and Harry, is a heartwarming journey of courage and daring packed with outback adventure, colourful characters, surprises, romance, drama and humour - a truly Australian novel.

Captivating listening

What made the experience of listening to Beyond Tomorrow the most enjoyable?

I love the genre, & Tony McKenna writes an interesting believable story. His descriptions of the country & interactions between the people kept me interested all the way through

What other book might you compare Beyond Tomorrow to, and why?

Jack & Harry No Turning Back, the first book in the series.I read this and was hooked. I love the outback of Australia & just wanted to be there with them. These 2 books just took me out of the city & into the land I love.

Have you listened to any of David Tredinnick’s other performances? How does this one compare?

I have listened to both Jack & Harry books & Outback Cop Narrated by David Tredinnick.I have listened to many Audiobooks & David Tredinnick stands out as one of the best.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Both Jack & Harrys books brought emotional reactions while I was listening to them, they made me happy, sad, angry & concerned, laughing & bringing tears to my eyes & a lump in my throat.

Any additional comments?

I can't wait for the next book if there ever is one.

Another fabulous Jack and Harry novel for all ages

The book flowed seamlessly from the first Jack and Harry. Two fabulous Australian novels brought to life by such an excellent narrator. I’m going to miss Jack and Harry.

Great follow-up yarn.

I really enjoyed this follow-up adventure story from these authors and especially the marvellous narrator.
Weaving a variety of yarns about this great country together, to form an interesting tale about two young men in the outback. I appreciate the reminders of life in the 50's and also the honour and respect shown to Aboriginal folk and their fascinating culture.

Wish it didn't end!

Really Great story. And I wish it didn't end. It has made me feel that my life is pretty shallow in the city and can't wait to be back home in the country.
Now I'm ready for No. 3 and the movie :)
