About this listen
In 1890, artist Edward Burne-Jones finished a monumental series of paintings inspired by Sleeping Beauty.
Told through the eyes of the five women in his life - wives, daughters and mistresses of famous artists - this is the astonishing story behind that famous painting - a story of love, obsession, scandal and betrayal.

Wonderful!
I’ve loved the PRB artists my whole life. This was brilliant. Juliette did a fantastic job narrating. Lizzie Siddal has been a heroine of mine for many many years. This was just so wonderful.

Wonderful imagery
This book combines beautiful imagery with an intriguing story that untangles itself at an excellent pace.

Beautifully immersive
I loved this beautifully detailed novel, exploring the world of the Pre-Raphaelite artists from the women’s perspectives. I immediately searched online to look closely at their work, picking up details I’d never noticed before. The narrator was excellent (apart from struggling a wee bit with a Scottish brogue which is totally understandable).
Highly recommended for lovers of quality historical fiction.
