About this listen
All is fair in love and auto maintenance.
Beau Winston is the nicest, most accommodating guy in the world. Usually.
Handsome as the devil and twice as charismatic, Beau lives a charmed life as everyone's favorite Winston Brother. But since his twin decided to leave town, and his other brother hired a stunning human-porcupine hybrid as a replacement mechanic for their auto shop, Beau Winston's charmed life has gone to hell in a handbasket.
Shelly Sullivan is not nice and is never accommodating. Ever. She mumbles to herself, but won't respond when asked a question. She glares at everyone, especially babies. She won't shake hands with or touch another person, but has no problems cuddling with a dog. And her damn parrot speaks only in curse words. Beau wants her gone. He wants her out of his auto shop, out of Tennessee, and out of his life. The only problem is, learning why this porcupine wears her coat of spikes opens a Pandora's Box of complexity - exquisite, tempting, heartbreaking complexity - and Beau Winston soon discovers being nice and accommodating might mean losing what matters most.
Beard in Mind can be listened to as a stand-alone.

Loved it
Another incredible addition to this series. If you haven’t yet, go read the other books. Absolutely loved the characters of Beau and Shelly, beautifully narrated as always.

so much love for this series and the narrators
Just finished my first listen to the Audiobook of Beard In Mind and the narrators are FABULOUS! I am so in love with this series and all of the Audiobooks.
I have all the love for Beau Fitzgerald Winston
When I first started reading Penny Reid's books, I would describe them to others as quirky, funny, awesome reads. Now I would have to describe them as quirky, funny, awesome reads that can bring tears to the eyes.
The last 3 books have definitely given my the teary eyes as I've been reading them, and in Beard in Mind there was more than a few occasions where I felt so sad for Shelly. She's such a complex character and has so much to overcome. She's so very prickly towards others at the start of the book, and she has great difficulty with interacting and dealing with people.
Initially, Beau feels great frustration towards Shelly and the way she interacts with people, he considers her arrogant and thinks of her as a "human-porcupine hybrid". But once he starts to understand her more, and she opens up to him he is so wonderful with her.
As is usual with a book from this author, there are also many humorous parts throughout the story that had me smiling. I really enjoyed how this book was occurring at the same time as the storyline in Beard Science.

loved it
Beau is a complex character I wanted to see into and this story delivered. Shelly makes your heart hurt but her resilience and strong will to overcome the complusions and be able to touch her loved ones.
I loved how patient and caring he is and so is her with her blunt words and genuine expressions as is her artistic genius. I loved them so much.

Intelligent romance.
Penny Reid you have ruined crappy romance novels for me. After reading/ listening to this series I just can’t go back to them. The characters are real, flawed and beautiful, the story well written and interesting, intriguing enough to make me walk around the house like a smiling nutter refusing to take me headphone off to have a break from listening. The narrators for all the series are all absolutely spot on and do a fabulous job. Can’t rave enough about your books, but especially the Winston brothers series- just brilliant! Love, love, love them.

Love and Challenges.
loved it! It was also very challenging to listen to when they talked about mental health. I had to stop multiple times to pick myself back up again. So much emotion.

Amazing!!
I can never get enough of the Winston brothers, and I think I have found a new favourite in Beau Winston! Swoooon! This man is all kinds of goodness! I loved the connection between Beau and Shelly! It was a relationship that took a lot of patience and honesty. I loved that this story was more about just the romance. It was about perseverance, trust, honesty and patience. I felt that Penny Reid really opened my eyes to what people with OCD actually have to deal with on a daily, lifelong basis. I can’t wait for Billy’s book !!

Brilliant
What a great insight into the minds of others/with a label or not.
It would be nice if offered assistance for any mental issues without being labelled, sometimes causing an onslaught of opinions or lack of treatments relevant. I have seen with high regard to those involved treatment being held back due to the label placed on persons. Awesome book Well written!

Engaging and thought provoking!
The idea of addressing mental health in a romance novel such as this should be applauded as a step towards acceptance and normalisation of these issues. It act's to reduce stigma for those who experience this. we'll done, it's not a standard issue romance novel and that's what I liked about it.
