About this listen

Make a deal with the devil and you might get what you want, but will it be what you need?

Jennifer Sylvester wants one thing, and that one thing is not to be Tennessee's reigning Banana Cake Queen. Ever the perpetual good girl and obedient daughter, Jennifer is buckling under the weight of her social media celebrity, her mother's ambitions, and her father's puritanical mandates. Jennifer is officially desperate.

And desperate times call for Cletus Winston.

Cletus Winston is a puzzle wrapped in a mystery covered in conundrum sauce, and now he's in a pickle. Despite being convinced of his own omniscience, extortion by the exalted Banana Cake Queen of Green Valley has taken him completely by surprise. So what's a maniacal mastermind to do?

Likely, the last thing you expect.

Beard Science is the third book in the Winston Brothers series, is a full-length romantic comedy novel, and can be heard as a standalone.

Swoon and laugh and fall hard.

Cletus never saw Jennifer coming and she sucker punched him in all the surpise places in life hard.
He's used to black mailing people and keeping subtle scores, plays dumb but is so smart, will fight bullies and try not to lose his cool, enter the Banana Cake Queen. Being a wallflower has its perks and she wields her will so well, Cletus helping her gind het voice and stand up to her parents is a journey to jump on. These two are so well matched the feels were overflowing.

Best one yet

I loved Cletus, I'm just having a hard time picturing him as I see him and his name. It also reaffirms my belief that sometimes really smart people can be so dumb. Jennifer at first appeared a bit wishy washy with no backbone and I wondered if I would come to like her at all but it was like watching a rosebud bloom and although, as with all this series, you have to read them with a pinch of 'leave your believability at the door' it madness me want to continue the Winston saga even more. We all want someone strong with our sweet and vulnetable with our invincibility and this series has that in spades.

Winston Brothers Bliss!

Any additional comments?

Oh my Cletus! Book 3 of the Winston Brothers series was such a delight to read! Cletus has been a favourite of mine throughout the series so I was super excited to get inside Cletus's head, finally! It's been awhile since i've read about such a special character, Cletus is full of surprises, has the driest funniest wit, quirky anecdotes and is a shrewd mastermind! He is such a complex character and even after reading his book, we don't get all the answers about Cletus, I'm hoping in the following books, more about his particular past will be revealed. I loved Jennifer's character because she took on such a transformation throughout the book.
It's wonderful having all the other Brothers & partners so intertwined in the books, it's what brings a richness and depth to the stories.
I can't boast enough about Penny's writing, it is intelligent, witty & funny, making this series a breath of fresh air for me. Really looking forward to the next book & more of Cletus and his sausage... 😀

Surprisingly good

Just not at all what you expect. Laugh out loud funny, eyebrow raisingly saucy, and touching. Would make great tv / cinema.

Performances very good

Good story

Nice to follow the family through their lives. To understand the complexity and fever of different lifestyles and how they can come together. Clever

Sneaky Genius

I love this Winston brother. The way he approached a relationship and getting to look into the mind of a mad genius was truly a thing to behold. I wish I could read a whole series about Cletus and Jen's love story. Excellent read, Penny is the best. ❤️

There are not enough stars to give this book, it's was absolutely hilarious and I loved it. Had no idea there was a sequal which is now on my wish list. Fantastic narration just fabulous.
