About this listen

Audie Award Winner • Earphones Award Winner • Best of 2016 Science Fiction Audiobook

Battlefield Earth is an enormous epic of adventure set in the year 3000, when the future survival of what's left of the human race is at stake. When Jonnie Goodboy Tyler decides to venture out of the small and dwindling community of humans barely surviving in their Rocky Mountain retreat, he has no thought of challenging the order that for a thousand years has held the earth prisoner to the oppressive alien race of the Psychlos.

The Psychlos and their vast intergalactic mining corporation have dominated and exploited all known galaxies for centuries, ruthlessly destroying races who dare to resist. How one man - with the aid of a few surviving Scotsmen—tackles the greatest malignant power in the universe makes for a sprawling adventure of thrilling heroics, full of dangerous underground work, interplanetary wars, intergalactic financial intrigue, monster races, and complex political manipulation spread across a vast canvas of epic scale.

WHAT AN ADVENTURE

Having read the book many years ago, and loved it, and then been disappointed at the limited scope of the movie, this presentation is just as L.Ron says in his introduction - an epic of 'pure science fiction'. Tears and cheers along the way with a few WTF's thrown in but a great listen for those who loved the book - great work to all who persevered with the audio book production - thank you all.

Oh my God what an AMAZING story. Wow

Couldn't stop listening. Mesmerized. Hopeful. Dreadful. Inspired. Amazing how it is also correlate to nowadays with today's problems of politics, psychiatrical suppression and clever ways to deal. All in a spectacular performance. Wow. Hugely recommended!

An absolute masterpiece in all respects.

A masterful book read by a masterful cast. If you're even slightly a SciFi fan, this book is a must. Ignore the movie. It is a travesty. A mongrel bastard of an attempt to convey the true story.

Amazing sci fi

One of the best sci fi stories I've ever read/ heard.
The cast are great and after nearly fifty hours of listening to them they'll seem like close friends.
Hubbard was a great writer, regardless of all the other stuff he did, and if you enjoy a good bit of post apocalyptic sci fi, this is worth an intergalactic credit!

A science fiction classic

If you’ve seen the movie, forget it! The book has some much more.
At first I found the soundtrack annoying, but then I just thought this is the soundtrack, the pictures are in my head!
I read the book some years ago, revisiting it now as a full blown performance in an audiobook format was very rewarding and satisfying.
At 47 plus hours hours of enjoyable listening, it is certainly worth 1 credit!
Enjoy!

It Comes And Goes in Cycles

A very enjoyable story. It could have finished in multiple places, but didn't. It's a very formulaic story but it's enjoyable in that simplicity. The dramatisation was superb and really kept me listening. Certainly a book worth the listening to.
