AD 1066. Cerdic is a prisoner of war. Captured after the Battle of Hastings, his fate is in the hands of the victorious Norman count Cynric, who is in no mood to feed and look after worthless Englishmen as the army moves inland. His survival depends on his ability to convince them of his value.

So incredible

Amazing story. Loved the performance on the audio. PW Finch has a fabulous way of bringing history and humanity right to the present time. Beautifully written and loved all the descriptive elements. If you want a great historical story this is a must read/listen. It tells the tale of the aftermath of 1066. It’s was a bloody time of tragedy and loss; of greed and betrayal; of finding a niche of happiness and returning home to fight what was yours. Brilliant story.
