Publisher's Summary

Blaise

There are a few things I know for sure: I’m gay, I want to do costume design for film and television, and a supportive family is what other people have. Oh… and fate’s not my biggest fan. That’s fine, though—who needs fate? I’ve got friends I love, a welcoming community, and a plan. Graduate college? Check. Build up my portfolio? Whenever I can. Impress industry pros? Done. Save the money for my dream internship? Working on it. All I’ve gotta do is stick with the plan, and that internship is mine next year.

And then Jordan Marks walks into my life, and my plan turns into a loose guideline. Suddenly I’m learning about baseball and giving away shifts at work so I can watch him play. My goals are the same, but maybe there’s room in them for the world’s sweetest athlete.

Jordan

I’m pretty sure the gods of baseball don’t care if I wear a suit on game day, but Franklin U and Coach do, so when mine rips, replacing it is an urgent mission. That’s how I meet Blaise Warner and my “I guess I could be bi” musings become full-blown “I wanna learn to handle a bat” demands. Blaise is smart, talented, and has goals… and he’s more than happy to teach me a new batting style.

But as we go from casual to more, the things I never mentioned—like my dads’ connections in the entertainment industry—become heavy secrets. Plus, while our friends know we’re dating, nobody else does. That’s not fair to Blaise, but do I really want to be the latest queer college ball player?

I don’t get a chance to figure it all out before things fall apart, and now we both have to decide what our real priorities are.

5 ⭐️ story

Louisa Masters is a very good comedy writer. Lots of genuine laugh out loud moments in this lovely romantic tale. Mixed with some spice and drama, this book is a gem amongst the FU series. Greg Boudreaux is always fantastic and he doesn’t disappoint here. Highly recommended.

Didn’t love this story

Unfortunately I didn’t love this story. I also felt the epilogue left the story unfinished.

A fun read with realistic aspects

I was really pleasantly surprised with this book. It has quite in depth characters (including side characters). It's a very sweet novel with a small amount of drama going through a very real feeling relationship as well as their own lives. Very good depictions of the lgbtq+ community. Recommend giving it a go and I'll definitely be checking out some of the author's other books too!
Very good narration too.

Story of Blaise and Jordan

This is a friends with benefits to lovers college romance, featuring Blaise Warner and Jordan Marks, and is the third book in the Franklin U 2 series.

Jordan plays on the college baseball team, he ends up ripping his jacket and after an hilarious discussion with his dads, which so accurately depicts what it is like to talk to your older children, omg I was laughing so hard, he heads to the mall. Meet-cute with Blaise, who is the retail assistant there to lend a helping hand, wink wink.

This book is flipping brilliant! Big call, I know, but it just had everything. Baseball player, nosey yet supportive family and friends, oblivious MMCs, hilarious discussions with big sis and dad, bi-awakening, little bit of spice and a whole lot of sweetness. I loved it!

Make sure you listen to the audiobook. I listened to a lot of Greg Boudreaux’s work and this is some of his best.

This series is well worth diving into, I’m loving it and can’t wait for the next book.

Best book in the series so far ⭐️

Louisa Master’s FU1 book, Mr Romance, was also brilliantly written and hilarious. Both are a definite must on audio as Greg Boudreaux’s narration is perfection.

Jordan and Blaise meet in a menswear boutique after Jordan hulks out of an old suit and Blaise is incredibly ‘helpful’ in fitting him into more than just a replacement one. Queue shenanigans and hilarity, as they become friends with benefits, and then more. Their overly-involved but loving friends and family are just as much fun as the main characters and so well-written. We also touch on more sensitive topics and they are handled well. My favourite character was Jordan’s adoptive dad.

The epilogue kind of leaves us with a HFN but we learn throughout the book what Jordan and Blaise have tentatively planned for the coming years together, so it didn’t leave us to wonder too much.
