Publisher's Summary

In a former life, Jack was gifted, meaning he possessed peculiar abilities. If rich folks found themselves in a jam, Jack could use his talents to get them out of it. Where others were sure to fail, Jack's aristocratic clientele could always count on him to finish jobs cleanly, efficiently, and leave no trace, for which his services commanded a hefty fee.

But one day, Jack picked a fight with the wrong man and his old life came to an end. But, as it turned out, his story was far from over.

A mysterious supernatural being whisked Jack's consciousness away and into the body of a young nobleman living in a different world in the multiverse—a magical one.

In it, he must play the part of Max Renard, illegitimate son of a traitor who was recently executed on orders from the king, which caused Max to lose his home and be forced to dwell in a small town on the western outskirts of the kingdom.

And now this new life-his last life—is the one he must lead . . .

Great Narration

This narrator could fill in for Nick Podehl if he ever gets sick. Very similar voices. it's great.

Surprisingly good!

I was a little worried bout the accents but I ended up liking it. The narrator has a good even tone and sound. The story was engaging and enjoyable!

Awesome

This was well worth for going a good nights sleep. I enjoyed the kindle version and wasn’t disappointed with this audiobook. I can’t even wait for Blood Ties that how much I’ve enjoyed this audio. Nine days to wait for Frontier, chomping at the bit.

A new story begins

I like these kinds of stories. I can't wait to see what happens. I'm looking forward to the next book.

enjoyable set-up volume

i enjoyed the book and will get the next volume. The soul of a magically powerful guy, who starts the book at an absolute low point in his life, is shifted into the body of a wastrel who also is at the lowest point of his life (he dies essentially, except that the MC's soul moves in). in this book, the MC basically tidies up all the immediately pressing debts (both financial and honour duels) he has inherited from the original owner of the body. While there are still a few matters that aren't completely resolved with his inherited "family," it is clear at the end of the book that he can now head off to get the resources to become as magically powerful as he was in his past life. Essentially, it seems like this book is the set-up for the adventures in the next book.

The narrator is great, especially with the French accents. I had no trouble telling the characters apart, he had none of those problems that some narrators (even one of my favourite narrators) have where they clearly are unfamiliar with some words and don't pronounce them correctly (stuff like putting the emphasis on the wrong syllable). This narrator knew all the words.
