About this listen
Abducted by alien slavers, experimented on, and left blind, the last thing doctor Winter Ashworth needs is a big barbarian gladiator in her life, especially an annoying one who thinks she's small and weak.
Rescued by gladiators on the desert world of Carthago, Winter is doggedly working to embrace her new life. But two of her friends are still missing and she'll do anything to help get them back...even if she has to work alongside Nero Krahn: hunter, barbarian, gladiator. The scowly, brooding man is too big, has too many muscles, and pushes all her buttons.
Nero is the House of Galen's best hunter and tracker. Raised on a barbarian world, where strength and might are prized, he was bred to hunt and fight. Now the arena is his home and his loyalty is to his imperator. He knows he can use his skills to find the two lost women, even if that means protecting a small blind woman who takes every chance to misjudge his words and lash him with her sharp tongue.
But as they follow a dangerous trail to save their friends, a new enemy emerges - one who wants Winter. The pair find themselves reluctantly attracted to each other, uncovering a scorching desire that shocks them both. As Nero fights to protect Winter, the barbarian gladiator will discover the true meaning of strength from the small Earth woman he wants to claim as his.
Note to listeners: This sci-fi romance contains a lot of action (think wild gladiatorial fights and daring rescues), tough gladiators (the warriors of the House of Galen) and a steamy romance (between a scowly barbarian gladiator and a determined doctor). So if you like it fast and gritty and sexy, this is for you!

Brilliant
Barbarian the sixth Galactic Gladiators focuses on Winter Ashworth and Nero Krahn who is a hunter, barbarian, gladiator, the best in the House of Galen. Winter is the first of three women abducted to be resuced and then they end up working together along with the rest of the House of Galen team to find and rescue the other two women who were abducted from the House of Galen. At first they rub each other up the wrong way and then an uneasy alliance forms between the two but, then WInter proposes to Nero that she use him for their mutual pleasure and they discover a very passionate and explosive chemistry and suddenly Nero wants her for his own and is very determined to claim the stubborn Earth woman for his own. Then Winter selflessly risks her own life to save all the gladiators in the midst of a very tense situation and Nero realises he loves her and now all bets are off, he will claim what is his one way or another. Another fantastic mix of action, humour and scorching romance which creates an intoxicating story that can't be put down and I highly recommend it and the series as a whole.

Denial is not just a river in Egypt!!
two oddly matched people, and a great twist with new and old characters. love the way advanced sci fi technology is wound Into the old ways of this series, such as the gladiators and the roman style ring and then modern technology with casinos and lavish parties and in this book, advanced technology...with computer science used with evil intent.
Amazing how Ms Hackett comes up with these ideas. Obviously planned way in advance to incorporate the fast paced moving characters and action, from one book to the next.
end I'm really loving them all and not tiring at all.
Beast is going to be an interesting one for sure.
Vivienne, Brillant as always with different tones and inflections, you definitely can tell one character from the other.
