Surprise find turns out to be a gem

This series has turn into one of my regular listens, Narrated by James Cronin. James does a great job keeping you captivated with Nathan Hystads journey.
The series turned out to have great story progression and characters developing. The world building is not set at an extreme speed which I expected and while the prologues seem random before the books being they add a nice side perspective.

I definitely recommend this for anyone into science fiction based with space travel, or anyone from a sword and sorcery fan base that would like to branch more into a military space future.

wonderful series, great characters that developed with the story, which was complex enough to keep your interest and very well narrated.

Great story

I really liked the story. It was an enjoyable version of the heroes/heroines story.
I didn’t enjoy the narrator; the characters were all too stilted.

A rather boring space opera.

I have to admit, I like a good space opera however this was not one of them. I found this rather too simple and predictable, with huge plot holes. I got sucked in by the 52 hours of audio book -- but this was a mistake. I could not get past half way through book 2. I have had enough and will ask for my credit back.

You can understand why authors bundle these things

Truly an awful piece of literature.

The leaps of logic and magical thinking makes for an astounding read, just not in the way the author might've hoped.

A Tip for other authors. If you create too much technology and too much in the way of alien races who are on the same side, the human characters get harder and harder to connect with. They simply don't have any of the characteristics of humanity that any reader would have.

Also, if the most technologically advanced warship in the alliance cannot reach an away team - why can the simple wifi of the android get through? This kind of thing happens over and over throughout the book.

Please, just get a job.

Not what I thought.

listened to the first three books and I can't listened to the rest as I'm now just skipping chapters cause nothing is grabbing me to continue listening for the rest of the books.
For a military space story it's more like a firefly or startrack feel but at points the main characters feel like their the only component onse and everyone is blind idiots or just acting as blockers so the crew has to work around them which fine for the first few times but around every corner and sometimes I think its just in so it makes the story drag on can get annoying.
characters were good but again it felt like it was rinse repeat action and to try and keep them morally good which stops them from making the obviously logical decision so it won't come back bite them to moral decisions which makes them perfect good guys with no fault. Which for me makes them less complex and interesting.
Alright performance but I think dual narrators would of helped with the huge amount of characters and made it a bit more impactful with vocal expressions. But I know that can cost alot more so he did well with that amount he had to do.
honestly to me it's a book combo I would have playing in the background to keep me awake while driving but not take serious interest if I missed a few minutes of reading cause you don't miss much. Hence overall 3 star.
