Publisher's Summary
We are constantly bombarded with inaccurate, contradictory and sometimes misleading information - until now.
Ben Goldacre masterfully dismantles the dubious science behind some of the great drug trials, court cases, and missed opportunities of our time. He also shows us the fascinating story of how we know what we know, and gives us the tools to uncover bad science for ourselves.

Brilliantly researched refutations to pseudoscience bullshit
Very entertaining book for people who like to think logically and understand that evidence not just something scientists are obsessed but rather something that good life (and public health) choices are all based upon

funny and informative
A good light-hearted view on science. He exposes some flaws of the pseudo-science , quack and even big Pharma industries. He does dedicated whole chapters to a few individuals which I think was a bit to much but 5 stars.

Eye opening reports in media - fake news well covered
It is a real eye opener on the topics reviewed - I want to re-read several chapters.
Great reading and great points.
Only disappointment would be focused too much on some subjects, maybe better if more topics were covered under the same time frame.

well-rounded debunking of new age and big pharma
goldacres crusade against quacks, cranks, journalists and big pharma goons reminds me of nicholas talebs quest against the financial damage caused by the economics profession and their influence on the media/culture

Excellent
Absolutely loved it. It was well thought out in the topics covered. The writer did amazing job at piecing this together. I will definitely be reading 'Bad Pharma' and 'I think you'll find its a bit more complicated than that'. It was very easy to listen to, the narrator spoke clearly and sounded passionate about what he was reading. Great work all round.

condescending
amazing content, really good insight into the battle between science and the media. just a shame that in some places the narrator made the tone of the book feel more condescending than the words seemed to. might just be me but it just seemed a little off, turned it from an interesting discussion to a look at these poor people who can't understand the truth I'm spreading.

What a Quack
Really bad book.
He talks about science, but he is more on a vendetta about some people that he thinks to stand for entire industries.
He has no balance and is one-sided.
With the title of "Bad science", I thought I would get into all science, including today's pharmaceuticals and medical doctors.
But instead, he blemishes all complementary medical fields, claiming they are overcomplicating and wrong. Including advice about vitamins.
There are bad and good scientists, bad and good doctors, bad and good nutritionists and even bad and good homeopaths.
In the end effect, it is the client ( or patient) who has the right to decide if he is better or not.
To that effect, even the "placebo effect" which he so mistreats in this book becomes a powerful remedy.
Science is difficult because of the humans that conduct and monitor it. Humans always have an "opinion" that will lean any "science" into the desired direction.
