  • Summary

  • Hey there, awesome surfers and beachgoers! It's time to catch some waves and soak up the sun with your surf zone forecast for New York, straight from the National Weather Service in New York. So grab your boards and sunscreen, and let's dive in!

Starting off with today, we've got a moderate rip current risk at around 5 feet surf height. The UV index is super high, so don't forget to lather up! With sunny skies and temperatures in the lower 80s, it's a perfect day to ride those waves. Winds coming from the south at 10 to 15 mph, creating some nice conditions out there.

Now, for Juneteenth, the surf height drops to around 4 feet, but the fun doesn't stop! Expect mostly sunny weather with temperatures hitting the mid 80s. Winds still hanging out around 10 to 15 mph from the south.

Looking ahead, Thursday brings mostly sunny skies with highs in the mid 80s and some southwest winds at around 10 mph. Friday keeps the party going with a chance of showers and thunderstorms and highs in the mid 80s. And Saturday presents a mix of sun and a chance of showers with highs in the lower 80s.

For our southern Queens beach buddies over at Jacob Riis Park and Rockaway Beach, you'll be soaking up the sun with a moderate rip current risk and around 5 feet surf height. High temps in the upper 70s to lower 80s will keep you feeling just right.

Down in Southern Nassau with Atlantic Beach, Long Beach, Lido Beach, and Jones Beach crew, similar conditions, but a bit warmer with upper 70s temperatures. Be sure to keep an eye on those tides and enjoy the sunny weather!

For our friends at Gilgo State Park and Robert Moses State Park in Southwestern Suffolk, get ready for a moderate rip current risk and some sunny vibes with lower 60s surf temperature. Highs will be in the mid to upper 70s, perfect for a day out on the water.

And for those hanging out at Smith Point, Cupsogue Beach, Hither Hills State Park, and Ditch Plains in Southeastern Suffolk, you'll be enjoying the sun with a moderate rip current risk and around 1 foot surf height. High temps will be in the upper 70s, so get ready for some beach fun!

Remember, whenever you hit the surf, keep safety in mind. Have a flotation device with you, swim near a lifeguard, and watch out for rip currents. If caught in one, relax, float, and swim parallel to the shore. And most importantly, have a blast out there on the water!
