Publisher's Summary

It's easy to feel at home in Mitford. In these high, green hills, the air is pure, the village is charming, and the people are generally lovable.

Yet Father Tim, the bachelor rector, wants something more. Enter a dog the size of a sofa who moves in and won't go away. Add an attractive neighbor who begins wearing a path through the hedge. Now, stir in a lovable but unloved boy, a mystifying jewel theft, and a secret that's 60 years old.

Suddenly, Father Tim gets more than he bargained for. And readers get a rich, provincial comedy in which mysteries and miracles abound.

Don't miss out on the rest of Father Tim's adventures in Mitford.

Relaxing and warm story

I love the pace of this book, it’s like you are there with these people and enjoying living in this pretty town too. The story line is relaxing and pleasant and just so real. This is one audiobook to listen to again and again. I also love how the loving nature of God is woven in throughout and it’s such a comfort in every way. The dog is so funny and sweet and the boy Dooley is so bright and interesting and watching his development warms my heart. The tender feelings between Tim and Cynthia are so nicely written and spoken too.
