About this listen

Sometimes, life’s greatest lessons are found in failure…

With the circumvention of Aurora’s grim fate—and a heavy heart at what’d been required to avoid it—Rowan and his budding Party take their first steps toward realizing their goals; Aurora, a brilliant young woman, is determined to uncover the truths behind her father’s disappearance. Nathaniel, the stalwart companion, is shackled by his name and longs to be free. Rowan, a wily old geezer, is compelled by his circumstances to turn their unlikely coalition into a force that can survive the fated calamity.

Rowan once more dons the mantle of mentor as his growing Party looks to him for guidance. Lessons learned through tribulation are everlasting. Within the shadow of danger lurks opportunity. And oftentimes, the biggest threat is the one you don’t see coming...

well written but isn't complete

I enjoyed this book, the characters are distinct and the writing style flows well. The only grievance I have is that the novel feels incomplete. There's no arch throughout story and finishes at the end of act 2.

Please stop changing readers!

Good story. I didn’t think it was as interesting as book 1 but I’ll definitely buy book 3. But why did you need to bring in a female reader for the female characters? Especially when the existing reader is great and the voices of the female characters have already been established. It’s super annoying when the reader changes.

It was good.

But it was barely half the length of the first book. Which is fine except I had to wait forever for it to be made into an audiobook.

To short and a bit confusing

Loved the first book, but this one is only 9 hours and 2 hours is taken up by reading stats. So effectively a 7 hour book. The book skips around a lot making it very confusing at times. I feel the book was rushed and not edited properly. I will still get the next one because I am really engaged with the story but hopefully it’s back to the standard of the first book.

More or less filler

I want to preface this with nothing was written bad nor was there any glaring issues other then the fact that the length of this book (compared to the first) downright feels awful. I would *strongly* recommend waiting for this book to go on sale for 5 bucks or for it to be apart of a '1 credit for 3 books' deal if that's ever an option because this book is NOT worth an entire credit/15 dollars.

(SPOILERS) For those who don't wish to spend the money this entire book can be summed up with "MC takes party of 3 up a few floors, meets with 2 other members and they form a 5 man party. There is some romantic tension happening with the (vampire?) lady and they beat floor 5 before being sent back down to floor 0 at end of book."

Thats basically it, just also imagine people getting shocked by MC's knowledge and cards and you have the story in a nutshell. I'm still keen for what might happen in the future but i won't be picking it up unless its of similar length to the first book.

potential but failed

the story has a lot of good ideas, unfortunately youbdont hear them. it jumps a lot and you never really find out what any of the "plans" are. so much detail and story bits missed for what seems like dot point paragraphs. after 3 books it hasn't gotten any better.
the narration. wow it is bad, not just the accents, (still no explanation for why 1 guy speaks like he's from the west country). but the whole thing is stop and start. you can hear the editing pauses. they have a female voice actor and It's still only 3 voices. not worth it. really not worth it.
