Publisher's Summary

Chester Oake is a nocturnal, pensive young man who, one summer, is invited by his best friend, Ryan "Reef" Carrick, to join him and some mutual friends in a string of home robberies. Seeing an opportunity to make some easy money, Chester agrees to join. After a series of successful break-ins, they plan one final heist, but the late-night robbery quickly takes a turn for the worse when they discover that there's someone else in the house: A girl named Kate, who sees Reef's face after he thoughtlessly takes off his mask. Knowing they can't leave the stranger there and that the police are on their way, the group kidnaps Kate, taking her with them as they run off into the woods to evade the law. In the morning, however, Chester finds himself alone with the girl, and realizes his accomplices abandoned him. Chester knows he can't go back to the city, or he'll be arrested, and to his surprise, Kate agrees to follow him as he becomes a fugitive. The two quickly fall for one another, and the unlikely pair find themselves in a dangerous run from the law as they flee to the Canadian Maritimes in search of a hideaway.
