About this listen

One of the most vicious archangels in the world has disappeared. No one knows if Lijuan is dead or has chosen to sleep the long sleep of an immortal. But with her lands falling into chaos under a rising tide of vampiric bloodlust, a mysterious and ancient order of angels known as the Luminata calls the entire Cadre together to discuss the fate of her territory.

Accompanying her archangel lover, Raphael, to the Luminata compound, Guild Hunter-turned-angel Elena senses that all is not as it seems. Secrets echo from within the stone walls of the compound, and the deeper Elena goes, the uglier the darkness. But neither Raphael nor Elena is ready for the brutal truths hidden within - truths that will change everything Elena thinks she knows about who she is....

Nothing will ever be the same again.

Still the wrong narrator

(Repeating… nothing personal, but JE is the wrong narrator on every level. She’s terrible at the voices, accents, and even pronunciation sometimes.)

As for the series, I love this series. NS is a great writer who’s built and amazing world full of fully fleshed out characters.

Saying that, at this point in the series, it’s starting to go down hill. My personal opinion is that NS has over extended herself with too many different series, so the level of attention and detail that has gone into her previous book (in multi series), has been sacrificed to pump out quantity over quality.

There are of course a few blips and bumps in any series. Things forgotten, missed or accidentally changed in later books, but they are starting to get bigger. The lack of attention means world rules are changed/broken or even just ignored. Sometimes by accident, but sometimes it seems like it was simply easier to write it ‘this’ way instead for following her own rules.

loved the book hated the narration

loved the story, nalini Singh is a favourite of mine. Did not enjoy the nasal accent of the narrator. He accents and pronunciation was just comical. So much so it was chapters in before I could hear past them.
