Publisher's Summary

Nalini Singh steps back into the shadows of her heartbreakingly original world where angels rule, vampires serve, and the innocent can pay the greatest price of all….Vampire hunter Elena Deveraux and her lover, the lethally beautiful archangel Raphael, have returned home to New York only to face an uncompromising new evil. A vampire has attacked a girls' school - the assault one of sheer, vicious madness - and it is only the first act. Rampant bloodlust takes vampire after vampire, threatening to make the streets run with blood. Then Raphael himself begins to show signs of an uncontrolled rage, as inexplicable storms darken the city skyline and the earth itself shudders. The omens are suddenly terrifyingly clear. An ancient and malevolent immortal is rising. The violent winds whisper her name: Caliane. She has returned to reclaim her son, Raphael. Only one thing stands in her way: Elena, the consort who must be destroyed...

sexy. fun.

Good fun. an exciting and dark world. glad to see Raphael's human heart growing. Initially I didn't like the narrator's voice but by the end could really appreciate it.

Love this series, but the narration 😭

I’m a long time rereader of this series and love it (for the first 10 or so books). The world and the characters are amazing, and NS has a talent for weaving a story dragging you in and keeping you there.

Finally, I’ve got the audio books… and they are a huge let down. Nothing against JE, but there’s nothing right about her narrating these books. Whoever decided she’s the one should be fired… they are in the wrong business.

The only voice I think might be ok is Jeeves/Montgomery. And Michaela barely scrapes thru an okish. The rest are awful. The men are terrible as JE really can’t pull any of them off (I was stunned when Montgomery seemed ok), and the women are just as bad.

I admit I should have cut my losses and stopped at audio bk1, but they are the whole reason I caved and got audio. I’m hoping, overtime, I’ll be able to tune JE’s voice out and just enjoy the stories again. 🤞

Great Book Where's The Other Four Books

This is book 3 in the series, there are seven books in this series So far.. This is a great book. The mixture of Romance, Adventure and mystery is wonderful. With each book Elana's and Raphael's relationship strengthens. She is slowly becoming a Angel, even though she became one at the end of book one. It takes time to learn to be what she became. To learn to fly, how to act in this new Scary Imortal World. Where weakness means death. Nalini Singh handles this transition from human Elana to Angelic Elana beautifully. Not rushing the transition. This is book 3 and she is still developing into a Angel and this transition and awakening happens slowly, which is realistic. This book is full of Angelic Polotics and mystery. If you loved the previous two books in this series you will love this one.
But beware there are seven books in this series yes Audible has all seven out, but living in Australia we cannot get them .(even if we are a member of Audible America we still can't buy them) Americans can we can't. It has to do with the Audio Publisher not gaining rights for Australia and I suspect New Zealand too which is totally silly because the Author is from New Zealand. If you love this series please complain to audible about only having 3 books in a seven book series available to us. I find it very frustrating when I start listening to a series on audible and find out that the rest of the series is not available in my country. I'm usually given the excuse that sometimes when first published the publisher only gains American Rights at first and they get the rights latter on? Well there are seven Audiobooks and you have only 3 available to Australians that's a long wait for Australian Rights.
Please Audible Australia get the rest of this series. Because I have read the whole series so far and it a truly Amazing series. That only gets better wih each book please, please, please get the rest of this wonderful series.

Great book, but was really, really disappointed by the narrator.

I adored all of the Guildhunter books--I have devoured them time and again, so much I virtually know them all by heart. But this narrator...is simply NOT the voice of Elena, and her attempts to embody Raphael or any of the other Cadre or vampires just falls painfully short, the narrator sounds...,well, she sounds arrogant and stuffy and way too pretentious to be suited to the gritty world that Elena is a part of. Sadly...if she is narrated the rest of the books, I won't be purchasing them. Very disappointed in that regard.

Raphael and Elena

Review I really enjoyed reading this book. I loved the relationship that has blossomed between Raphael and Elena. They are the Ying to the others Yang. I was a little disappointed with the fight scene that had taken place as we had been building up from the beginning of the book to have this epic fight but no such luck. Other then that I thoroughly enjoy this and can't wait to see what is to come for Raphael and Elena.

"Love discovering new series!!!!"

Series! Series!
You know i love my books in multiples. Its about getting to know your favorite characters more and more every book. Having an opportunity to find out the story of the secondary characters that always capture us but are not the focus of the story. For all these reasons and so many more ... I love series.
I have just discovered Nalini Singh and her Archangel Series and wow what a find. Add to the wonderful depth of the story and the fantastic characters she creates, the fantastic narration by Justine Eyre and its a flawless combination.
I listened to the first three back to back and cannot wait for the next installment.
Highly recommend this series, writer and narrator!!
Cheers :)
