Publisher's Summary

Will and Maddie are sent to the neighbouring kingdom of Celtica to investigate reports of terrifying direwolves, an ancient species thought to be extinct.

What they discover is even more of a threat – a sorceress who has brought direwolves and Wargals under her control and is building an army of creatures both living and supernatural.

Arazan must be stopped before she becomes too powerful – but first Will and Maddie need to find her.

Not John's best book.

Not John's best book. Weak characters, and basically boring. I do have all his other books

Such a good series

Have been a fan of the Rangers & Brother band for sometime, this was probably the 1st that actually featured magic is in the story , while still quite a good read i hope it doesn’t happen too much, but i do like these books & will wait patiently (not ;)) for the next book.

Enjoyed the earlier Royal Ranger books more...

SPOILERS: I enjoyed listening to The Wolves of Arazan, especially having the chance to hear Will and Maddie at work again. However, the storyline was nowhere near as inventive and interesting as the previous Royal Ranger books in the series. The plot felt somewhat monotone, particularly as at no point did the villainess seem to be a real threat to the protagonists. The direwolves carried the storyline almost entirely. The narration by John Keating was very good, although it will never match the vibrance of William Zappa in the earlier Ranger's Apprentice audiobooks to me. Still, a worthwhile listen.

Lacking and Condescending

Love my Rangers Apprentice Series and was so excited for this new book!
I found it hard to get into.
First of the person reading it was off putting and he always seemed to be asking a question or was sounding like he was being super upbeat in serious situations rather than telling the story.

He was also super fast in his speech and I had to slow the tracking down which made it sound even more super condescending.

I really liked the idea of the book, but it was lacking something.
Not sure what!

I love your work John, but this one didn’t hit the mark like all others have.

Can’t wait for another book!
Hurry up ;) and also bring William back as the narrator ;)

Why let the reader spoil a great yarn.

As usual for John Flanagan a very good story … BUT .. Why choose John Keating to read it. His style is jerky and he talks down to a listeners. Please please please get rid of him.

much more super natural Flanagans normal faire

not to my taste, returns to the supernatural tones from the original morgarath arc. then goes way off the deep end.

Weakest story of entire rangers series

The whole family have been big fans of the rangers apprentice and brother band series over the years and we were excited at the prospect of another enthralling adventure. However we all found this story line to be a big disappointment.
SPOILERS: It seemed that none of the villains were fully developed and the reliance on witchcraft and sorcery, rather than being debunked by the rangers investigations, was not in the style of past books and became almost farcical. The dire wolves had potential but were dispatched far too quickly and easily. Overall a missed opportunity.
