Publisher's Summary

The worst thing about the end of the world is we did it to ourselves.

Isaac Thoma lived to see the last handful of survivors defeat the demonic champion. He is now alone, his past in ashes, the last and most powerful human on a blighted Earth. But what if he could go back?

Hurled back in time, Isaac has one chance to change it all. A chance to warn humanity of their impending doom. A chance to stop the [System] before shortsightedness and lust for power can render humanity extinct. Facing malign deities, demonic hordes, and the unstoppable march of human greed, Isaac will give his all to prevent the end that has already happened on the day the world became quantified.

Apocalypse Redux is a pre-apocalyptic LitRPG by Jakob H. Greif (a.k.a. Wilderfast). Ok

Interesting premise but it's plodding pace and somewhat stilted writing made it a bit of a slog.
I'm intrigued about what happens in the future and am hoping the info dumps lessen in the next book.

interesting spin on the traditional genre

a great book with an interesting spin on the litrpg apocalypse genre.
as a person who love the genre with tons of books of the genre it feels fresh not having the same prospective as every other mc in all the other books i have read. the mc being superpoweful at the start and knowing what he is doing instead of being the most lucky person in the world and stumbling into ways to become powerful in refreshing.

ps
would absolutely love a prologue at some point though :)

Long winded and dull.

Cliche premise op main character goes back to the start, grim-dark premise where the character reverts to a fumbling teenager but he doesn't use any of his future knowledge other than leaking info to the public and basic stuff.

Unnecessarily long explanations, you could no joke skip half the chapters and not miss a thing. The story is dry, just like the characters which are dull and may as well be robots. Conversations are filler filler filler and have no personality or life, perhaps some of the worst I've read.

Lots and lots of world building and grinding if that's your thing. Some good action scenes then it went back to slice-of-life, totally doesn't fit the story's description. The narrator's voice killed it for me, but maybe that's just me. I'm not sure why this is so highly rated, I guess if you can handle skipping the conversations and long winded explanations it wouldn't be as bad.
