Publisher's Summary

A Primarchs novel

The Twelfth Primarch has been found! United with the War Hounds - now renamed the World Eaters - the gladiator Angron gives his sons an ultimatum that will change their very nature, and their destiny.

Listen to it because:

You've seen the immediate aftermath of Angron's recruitment into the Imperium in the short story 'After Desh'ea' - now Ian St. Martin brings us the details of what happened next, and the World Eaters' adoption of the Butcher's Nails.

The story:

As the Emperor travels the galaxy at the head of his Great Crusade, few events are as important as rediscovering his scattered sons, the Primarchs, and bestowing them as the masters of their Legions. United, a Legion becomes a reflection of its Primarch, both in his strengths and his flaws. For the Twelfth Legion, once the War Hounds and now the World Eaters, the line between strength and flaw is almost impossible to separate. Placed in command of a Legion he does not want, in service to a father he cannot forgive, Angron gives an ultimatum to his children, one that will set them down a path that they can never return from. So desperate for his acknowledgment, will the World Eaters follow their father and cast themselves in his broken image, or will they resist? And will any of them ever learn who their father was truly meant to be?

Written by Ian St. Martin. Performed by Jonathan Keeble.

Eaters of Worlds Given Context

I'll start this off by saying that I am a War Hounds Legion hobbyist, and was really listening to this to get as much information on the pre-World Eaters Legion that started the XIIth Legion. Information is hard to come by, so little bits here and there is great. As a form of background on the Terran XIIth Legion - the War Hounds - there are some great tids bits, and bridging the time between the pre and post Butcher's Nails, this is also a great way to learn more about how the World Eaters became the bloodthirsty mob they are. A very different force to the War Hounds. The story here is quite good, but it's interesting they went with this foe rather than a major player in the universe. Still, by the end that is explained. This book is less about Angron and more about his sons. Angron is fleshed out nicely in this story, so he's less if a raving maniac, and the Legion's dedication to their gene sire is better explained. As a piece of history and reference this is really good. Great acting and narration and a well written story.

Fantastic

Not a huge fan of the legion but a great story and look in at a legion that appears otherwise skin deep in the HH.

Amazing story

A background of Angrons life prior to serving the emporer, and a story on how the War Hounds became The World Eaters.

NEARLY perfect

The performance and atmosphere of the book is on point but I am slightly sad that they didn’t do more introspection about the meaning of being human like other books in this series.

All around it’s one of my favourite warhammer books.
