About this listen
Twenty-one year-old Harriet, a newly qualified X-ray technician earning a coveted male wage, ignores her father's warning that "only fools, Bohemians and tarts live in Kings Cross" and moves into Mrs. Delvecchio Schwartz's rooming house. There she discovers that Mrs. Delvecchio Schwartz has more sources of income than rents. She casts horoscopes, reads tarot cards, and gazes into her crystal ball...far more profitable! But it is mute four-year-old Flo, her mother's medium and beloved angel puss, who captures Harriet's heart.

Lots of fun and a good history lesson
This was a great tale, an interesting and fun group of people residing in Kings Cross in the early 60's.
Mrs Delvecchio Schwartz's is quite a character and has a plan for the house and its residents, even if they don't know it yet.
I learnt a lot about the Cross, and the changing times of the early 60's, the beginning of women coming into their own, without the need for a man. Enjoyed it immensely.
