About this listen
In a world where there are no rules, there is no greater hero than a 17-year-old girl.
Life at the fortified town of Sanctuary is calm. The people, with their fearless leader at the helm, have created a haven where they can live out their lives in peace and safety.
But it hasn’t always been this way. There were battles and losses along the way, and victory usually came at a price.
With the younger generation coming into their own, it’s time for Leah to pass on all she has learned over the years. Time to tell the stories of how the world became the way it is...starting with the highwaymen of Andorra.

Enjoyable, if somewhat short and limited.
Firstly, I wasn't a huge fan of the narrator, at least at first. She felt like someone more suited to narrating young adult novels, not stories about people murdering each other. She definitely didn't compare to R. C. Bray. But given the main character is a young women in this one, as the story follows Leah now, and that parts of the story are based in the future when she is much older, I guess it was a fitting change and I got used to it. But her attempts at doing male voices - particularly Dan's - were terrible.
The story itself was very enjoyable and there were no annoying parts where the protagonists acted in a way that made me despise them, as there had been in earlier installments, so that was a plus. It was somewhat short for a single entry in the series though, and the main action all occurred right at the end and was resolved way too fast and without any real suspense or twists. It was all too simple and neat. Then there was the random 45 minute long prologue for what I'm assuming was the next book, which felt completely unnecessary.

Not what I expected
As a disciple of RCB and the first six novels, l wasn't sure this would work. But it did. This isn't Dan's, Neil's or Mitch's story, it's Leah. And to tell it only a woman can. Kate does a brilliant job. The "Richards of Andorra" made the mistake of attacking and ambushing Leah. Big mistake to piss that woman off

Jumping straight into book 8
Can’t wait to read book 8. Such a brilliant series. Maybe a little heavy on the details of the guns and so on but not enough to put me off. I really love the characters. Devon C Ford is a masterful writer.

A fair performance.
The narrator struggled to match the performance of RC Bray. Her male voices were stationed and hard to listen to. Dan in particular sounded like a doofus.
Walther is pronounced Walter...

Disappointing that it was a different narrator
Story was good, but would have been better if RC Bray narrated like the rest of the books

I've been ruined by After It Happened books 1 to 6
An audio book is often greater than the sum of its parts (i.e. the writer and the reader - can be a winning combo). That is certainly the case for After It Happened books 1 to 6. This book, no. 7, is disappointing: the story line is a bit shallow, humour is gone, constant references to 40 and 40+ age being old (yep, I'm over 50) is irritating and the reader, for this book, doesn't really work. I have to say in K Reading's defence that I really liked her for the Sara Donati books.
I have to confess I couldn't finish this book. Sorry. That's just me. I did give it two stars however (instead of 1) because, as I said, my expectations were totally skewed by books 1 to 6. So go and listen to those if you haven't already.

I should have stopped prior to this book
This series is without a doubt my absolute favorite and I will be straight up, I read a HUGE amount of this genre. every book, until this one had received 5 stars on all accounts. This one however I give 2. the story feels weak and disconnected, the reader is difficult to connect with and hold your attention. Her tone and inflections at time misaligned. I can't recommend this book unfortunately and it saddens me.. I should have stopped with the last book.
