About this listen
Mistakes were made.
The future is uncertain. And Time doesn't care.
As the story ends, we'll finally learn how it started.
The world is breaking apart. Only the combined willpower of Hades and Hel can save it. But Love has other plans.
Meanwhile, the gods need to deal with the outcomes of their choices; everyone else needs to survive them.
And Psyche must finally face her greatest foe. Can free will cheat fate, or is fate the consequence of free will?

Perfect end to an incredibly original series
As a series, this was the most innovative, intricate, and well written mythological slipstream that I have read. It is not YA, not NA, not a rehashing or retelling, but a completely new multi-pantheon story set in a different world.
As the last book in the first series, this was amazing. Imaginario landed the ending with finesse, tying every single plot line that started on book 1, and making a sequence of ground shattering revelations throughout the entire book. It was neat and polished, and had me at the edge of the seat for the entire book. This was far more fast paced than all the others, yet it still managed to have some new storylines.
In terms of PoVs and such, this book hops in time quite a bit, but the jumps are contained to one chapter each, so it's very easy to follow. As usual, Psyche's and Aiden's chapters are in first person present tense, while the others are in third person past tense.
There are some chapters titled "Anamnesis" and a number; Anamnesis is a Greek word that means "a calling to mind," so those chapters are critical flashbacks--let's just say those reveal the key turning points that led to the current plot events. At the end of the book, there are a few "timeless" moments, which close off the storyline of some individual characters, couples, siblings, etc.
When I started reading this series, I compared this to Abercrombie's The First Law, in the sense that you have a bunch of characters, you know that there is a plot linking all of them together, but said overarching plot wasn't clear because the very same characters ignored it. Five books after, and everything tied up. *Every single plotline converged into the big momentum*; few authors can write something like this and keep it coherent and cohesive, so this was definitely amazing.
In terms of prose, Imaginario can write. It's fluid and polished without being overwhelming, it is readable and approachable, and nails the moment--at every stage her prose conveys the mood of the scene, twisting and twirling the reader around to cheer on (or hate) on different characters and moments.
Now, another point I want to make is that, in the previous books, it was hinted that Eros was not kind, and outright abusive to Psyche. This is further delved into in Anamnesis, and the author did it *very* well. It was not explicit, not gratuitous, but focused on Psyche's survival and how she thought of the events and of Eros afterwards. It was an extremely emotional scene, but also human (Psyche is not human, but hopefully you get what I mean), and kept to a level that was enough to make the point across without making it darker for the sake of darker.
Finding such topics approached with such flair and subtlety was refreshing.
Overall, throughout the entire series, we have a huge cast of characters. huge--yet every single one of them is extremely well developed, they change, they grow, and are affected by the events. We see them willing to compromise, to ally, to fight, and to adapt to survive.
What I also found very interesting is how the author kept this aligned with the original mythos. Granted, this is not a retelling, but the author used the roots of those original myths to make the gods and deities what we all know, but also kept their growth and change as unique as the story but coherent with the mythos. It's mind-blowing and outright incredible.
Overall, I think this is *the best** mythological series I have read. The attention to detail, the prose, the worldbuilding, and the characters build up to make something incredible. As a series, it is a slow-burn, but once it picks up you are in for a ride and the author definitely landed the ending.
I cannot wait to read the next series!

Conclusion
A wonderful story that intertwined all the plot lines from the previous books in the series and offered a conclusion that left me beyond 😊 happy.
I became so invested in this that I felt I was part of the story. The characters, themes, plot and atmosphere created in this world, is so breathtaking and well written that I would rate 6 out of 5 if I could. I thoroughly recommend this series:)
Sarah Kempton did an amazing job in bringing the characters to life:)
