Unexpectedly really enjoyed this. Great narration too.
I didn't expect much of this. I haven't been a reader of Mills and Boon or Harlequin, and was curious to see what one was like these days. I had dipped into one a long time ago and didn't take to it.
However I really liked this. It was a good solid story. There was sex but more alluded to and about the feelings for the two, rather than the clinical step by step explicit so common in romance currently. There was also depth and backstory for the two main characters.
I really liked the male narrator too. I see most Mils and Boons type titles were by females. Samples suggested the little girl tone voices I find grates on me. Pity this male doesn't seem to have narrated much other romance too.
Anyway, while it is a standalone, it references two other subsequent books that extend the narrative. I have now bought the, as Ebooks...
So, I've had more unexpecteds than just the scandal of the title.
