But their investigation proves dangerous, and the further they go in tracing the gunpowder, the more deaths they uncover. Soon Michael and Cleo find themselves tangled in a fight for their lives - one that forces them to face what has grown between them, to seize and defend what they both see as their path to the greatest adventure of all: a shared life, a shared future, a shared love.

Enjoying the characters and the plot.
I like how the plot in this one is a little more complex having been drawn out over more than one story then including multiple characters of the next generation as the stories progress. I enjoy the small parts that include the previous generation.

Great story, intriguing and well written. Good narration. Highly recommend to others that like period stories with a different slant

Brilliant
Absolutely loving this series & I'm looking forward to reading alot more from this fantastic author.
Excellent storyline & I love the subtle ways women back then managed to get around things.
Love the way life was lived back then, I really end up so engrossed into the story and I find it hard to put book down.
Wonderful Narrator could listen to him for hours.

Terrible voice for a hero
Started this book and was instantly irritated by the nasal pretentious speech of Michael. Hoped I'd remembered incorrectly and he wasn't the main character, but by ten minutes in it was clear there were hours more of this annoying voice. I'll buy the kindle and return this, it's really too unpleasant to suffer through a whole book.
