About this listen

THE SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLER

For all of the West's failings—terrible food, cold weather and questionable politicians with funny hair to name a few—it has its upsides. Konstantin would know. Growing up in the Soviet Union, he experienced first-hand the horrors of a socialist paradise gone wrong, having lived in extreme poverty with little access to even the most basic of necessities. It wasn't until he moved to the UK that Kisin found himself thriving in an open and tolerant society, receiving countless opportunities he would never have had otherwise.

Funny, provocative and unswervingly perceptive, An Immigrant's Love letter to the West interrogates the developing sense of self-loathing the Western sphere has adopted and offers an alternative perspective. Exploring race politics, free speech, immigration and more, Kisin argues that wrongdoing and guilt need not pervade how we feel about the West—and Britain—today, and that despite all its ups and downs, it remains one of the best places to live in the world.

After all, if an immigrant can't publicly profess their appreciation for this country, who can?

So obvious it’s refreshing.

Great personal reflections, analysis, tone and pace. Essential for this cultural moment. Kisin touches on a broad range of issues without being shallow or straw-manning opposing viewpoints.

Concise, direct and intelligent

Why is it that so many are blind and deaf when our society and social values are being eroded. When we realise what others have destroyed through manipulation and conniving they will quake !

Good read. Learned about history. West is best.

It seems obvious after learning history from the author and the difference between dictatorships, socialist countries and the west, that no one would ever want that for the west. the west is best. now, how do I get others to read?

Truth

So much truth
And sanity, lots and lots of sanity
Utterly brilliant
I resent Amazon’s requirement for a minimum 15 word review

Unapologetically grateful for Western values

A stark but wonderful reminder of how important it is for all who have the privelidge of being born into, experience, benefit from and enjoy the Western Social Democratic Capitalistic system to be grateful they are not living under any version of a Marxist Communist Social system of equality. A warning of what may befall us all if we keep going down the path we seem to going. And a call for those who want to protect what is the best part of our lives to use your voice to let others know. Well done Mr. Kisin.

Riveting

An entertaining listen with a powerful message. I'll be looking to purchase a physical copy to add to my library. Keep up the good work Mr Kisin.

Interesting, insightful, easy and enjoyable

I like Konstantin's style that is easy to listen to and to absorb. The book provides a good context and outside-in perspective to some of the current trends. I've enjoyed how KK mixes the big trends with his personal story (which is interesting on its own) and serious topics with small jokes.
Looking forward to your next book Konstantin!
Some future topics suggestions:
1/ How we can apply in post-communist countries what we have learnt in the west
2/ If you wake up in 20 years and the world would reach KK's ideal - how would that world look like? (would love to see you working on that one with people like Jordan P, Sam H, etc.)
Side note: I hope Konstantin returns to comedy one day, I find his gigs hilarious. (KK candidate to KKK? --> maybe something to explore in one of your future gigs :).
