About this listen

Manhattan Edit Workshop is proud to present the Artist in Residence Series, a program of talks with renowned film editors, all Resident Artists from Manhattan Edit Workshop's six-Week intensive course in the art and technique of editing.

Jim's work includes Todd Haynes' Academy Award-nominated film Far From Heaven, as well as Poison, Safe, and Velvet Goldmine (which he also co-wrote). He has also edited a number of other features, including Sofia Coppola's The Virgin Suicides, Jessie Peretz's Le Chateau, Tom Gilroy's Spring Forward, Eric Sjolberg's Prozac Nation, and Peter Freidman's Silverlake Life.

Jim passed away in 2007, but his legacy lives on in his guidance to the next generation of filmmakers.
