About this listen
Alastair Cunningham wakes up in hospital with almost total amnesia. But he knows that something terrible happened in his past, something that haunts him still. A young family friend, Clemence, is called in to help rekindle his memory. Retreating with Alastair to his remote cottage, Clemence finds a peculiar manuscript hidden away from prying eyes. Reading the prologue, she discovers a murder by someone very much like a young Alastair. The victim? Clemence's grandmother, Sophie. Could this kindly old man truly be a killer? Clemence becomes determined to find out what happened all those years ago, even if she must risk everything to do so....

Fascinating, I loved it.
This is a great story, well written and finely narrated. A murder mystery done in a very different way. I'm sure you'll love it too

Great and has me wondering !
After having previously finished the Magnus Iceland series, I'm seriously wondering whether there may actually be some generational revenge issues in Mr Ridpath's family ancestry, the theme used again in this book. Haha ! Anyway it was a really good story, novel or memoir, be whatever it may. Michael Ridpath is one of the very few authors that always keep you guessing till the end.
Sean Barrett doesn't need any more accolades from me. He's my absolute favourite narrator and brings every book to life and chasing his narrations has led me to many good new authors.
Can highly recommend this book.
