About this listen
A city girl through and through - how will she cope with country life?
The brilliantly entertaining new audiobook from the author of Katy Carter Wants a Hero.
Amber Scott loves her city life - a terrific job working on a glossy magazine and a fiancé, Ed, she's known since uni. Even if Ed doesn't take her job seriously (as a solicitor, he doesn't have much time for women's magazines!), it is Amber's dream job. So Ed's news that he has taken a job in the West Country turns Amber's world upside down.
The new life in Cornwall does not get off to the best start. The huge house Ed was so keen on is, well, huge - what is Amber going to do with four acres? And do M&S make Aga-ready meals? And when a handsome, if surly, man leads the local hunt over her land, it's more than Amber can stand.
So how is it that before long, Amber is friends with the local eccentric lady of the manor, making love potions at her mother's recommendation - and answering the door naked to strangers?

Enjoyable read/listen
Nice, feel good book, although a little predictable. Interesting characters and a few laugh out loud moments.

predictable but delightful
Plot was pretty obvious, but the narration & writing in general was so lovely & lighthearted, it actually didn't matter. Would read again just to hear that lovely narration & be caught up with a the colourful characters! Well worth it😊

An intelligent woman makes a fool of herself
I had problems getting through this book and really hated how an intelligent heroine made a fool of herself.
The characters are charming and the book is well read.Still I do not recommend this book because of the storyline. Sorry!

Totally enjoyable
Thoroughly enjoyed the story, made so much more by the brilliant narration. Laughed out loud so many times.

Jilly Cooperesque
I liked the style of this and the narration very much. The synonyms were fun and the first person narrative style made Amber's column seem believable. I liked so much about it, but the plot twists were SO obvious. I felt like yelling at Amber; you're an intelligent woman. How can you be SO STUPID. Towards the end, I thought I saw a plot twist I hadn't seen coming...but alas, it didn't happen. The plot cliches were so thick on the ground and yet the writing style wasn't cliched at all. So, so odd.

Nice HEA
It was a nice book, although a little predictable and frustrating at times that the main character couldn’t see what was going on right in front of her. An easy listen.

This book is unimaginative
This book’s only saving grace is the narration, which is very good. The plot is so predictable. There are a large number of aggravating repetitive references eg Jordan/Katie Price (at least 5 times) & Twilight (at least twice). It seemed the author couldn’t think of a different reference so just kept using the same ones over and over. And the metaphors! FFS, every little thing was likened to something else that was meant to be amusing, but wasn’t.
The worst part though, the protagonist. She is naïve, gullible, juvenile, clueless and stupid. It makes the book really painful.
The narration is excellent which is the sole reason I persisted until the end.

At least this was free…
Protagonist was terrible - so frustratingly daft and difficult to empathise with. Performance was ok. I would have been annoyed if I had paid for this.
