About this listen

Science Fiction. Alpha Martin and Omega Steed. What does a fetus dream? What are the old man’s conversations with Mort, that wise old owl of death? There is magic on this spring equinox of March 20, 2034. Follow Alpha Martin’s and Omega Steed’s transformations. For Alpha the transformation is from conception to birth, with all its magical stages. For Omega the transformation is from old age to death, with all its confusing stages. It is a time of magic, a time of change.

Creative Nonfiction. Paradoxes: and Choosing: When he was 16 he saw an old man smile. In the crazy world of the 1960s that old man smiled. It changed the way the young man looked at life. Now he is that old man! He is a 69-year-old retired professor of psychology and counseling, a grandpa, and a human being. In this essay he shares what he’s learned about living. He emphasizes the ability to choose the good in your life based on psychology, philosophy, and his lived personal experience.

Poems

Do-Be-Do-Be-Do: Looks at the paradox between doing and being, and the authors joyous floating between the two.

He will wipe away every tear: Powerful poetic personal reflection on Revelations 21:4, “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain.”

Unfelt Love and Hurricane Florence: Another paradoxical poem. On September 8, 2018 the author was attending a Reiki workshop in Wake Forest, North Carolina, while Hurricane Florence was barreling down on the Carolinas. This poem contrasts deep loving meditation and the terrible destructive force of an oncoming hurricane.
