Publisher's Summary
Shanghai in 1935 is a 20th-century Babylon, an expatriate playground where fortunes are made and lost, where East and West collide, and the stakes include life itself.
Into this, Rowland Sinclair arrives from Sydney to represent his brother at international wool negotiations. Rowland is under strict instructions to commit to nothing...but a brutal murder makes that impossible.
As suspicion falls on him, Rowland enters a desperate bid to find answers in a city as glitzy as it is dangerous, where tai-pans and tycoons rule, and politics and vice are entwined with commerce.
Once again, the only people Rowland can truly trust are an artist, a poet and a free-spirited sculptress.

One of My Favorite "Rowland Sinclair" series books
The return of the quintessential dry wit and adventure.
All the tears in China is up there with A Few Right Thinking Men (Book 1).
I have now read the complete series and enjoyed them all but "All The Tears In China" is a must-read and a favorite.
The series would not be the same without Rupert Degas who is a master storyteller.
I hope Sulari continues the series............
Recommended.

Brilliantly read
The Roland Sinclair series is fantastic - very well written, sprinkled with historically accurate details. The audio book is extremely well done.

Buy it! Just as good as I had hoped!
I was so excited when All the Tears in China FINALLY became available on Audible. It was worth the wait. I adore Sulari Gentill’s writing and Rupert Degas is such a wonderful narrator. When a friend happened to wander in while I was listening to this book, she stood listening and was amazed that just one man was the source of all those different voices.
All the Tears in China continues the Roland Sinclair + friends story perfectly. They travel to China on Wilfred’s orders and stumble into trouble through no fault of their own (as you’d expect) - though I bet Wilfred is going to be angry all the same (as you’d expect…)
I wish I could thank Sulari Gentill for all the hours of happiness and interest she has given me, her novels are my go-to comfort listening when I’ve had a hard day. I hope she is well and spending lockdown writing ;)

wonderful!
I hope Ms Gentill is busy working on further volumes. World history from an Australian viewpoint that I never learnt in school or University. I am sorry to see I only have one left in this series. And Rupert Degas! what a talent. you should be more famous than any Hollywood star.
My only gripe is that poor Rowlie can't take any more beatings. PTSD or brain damage will get him before he and Ed tie the knot.

The final slide into pointless violent twaddle
Sadly… the story starts with Rowland being beaten up by three men in front of young Ernest, implying that the author is no longer interested in this series.
