Publisher's Summary
A successful anaesthetist, Anna is focused on herself, her career, and her girlfriend. Everything changes abruptly when her brother's and sister-in-law's deaths devastate her and her family. Left responsible for her young niece and nephew, Anna finds herself dumped and alone in Melbourne, a city she doesn't even like. She tries to navigate the shock of looking after two children battling with their grief while managing her own.
Filled with self-doubt, Anna feels as if she's making a mess of the entire thing, especially when she collides with a long-legged stranger. Anna barely has time to brush her teeth in the morning, let alone to date a woman - least of all one who has no idea about the two kids under her care.
Just when Anna finally starts to feel as if she's getting some control of the situation, the biggest fight begins and Anna really has to step up once and for all.
Contains mature themes.

Very Detailed
I really enjoyed this book and I liked the level of detail the author went to explain the emotional loss wtc. I really identified with the feelings and behaviours portrayed as having been through devastating loss in my own life. and think it was a beautiful story of heartache loss and healing through love. well done ....great read

An engaging read.
I liked the story line, and the emotions of grief and love unfurling within the characters. The only thing for me that dropped it to 4/5 was the sheer amount of sex scenes. I felt they got to a point where they detracted.
I enjoyed that it was not read in an American accent.

Delightful, gentle story.
Great character development and storylines. Lovely to hear an Australian based novel read with Cat Gould’s mild Australian accent. It brings the dialogue to life and made the humour and sorrow flow together, balancing each other perfectly. Settle in and appreciate all the little moments that make up life. Another fantastic story from G Benson. Always a delight.

G.Benson has nailed the brief
This is another well written book by G.Benson. I cried throughout this book, while a beautiful love story, it was also believable in its description of grief and suffering from a variety of characters. Cat Gould performed the reading well.

Nearly 100% Aussie story
Although it is good to hear Aussie stories narrated by Aussie voices, the fact that it has been Americanised really grated and made it hard to enjoy. Particularly the terms pacifier rather than dummy, side walk instead of foot path, frosting rather than icing and then the mention of a cell phone. Come on, if it is an Australian story use the Australian words and make it 100% Aussie.

Underwhelming
DNF. Cat Gould spoke in such a constant, slow, plodding rhythm I couldn't stay tuned in. Even the spicier scenes were described with the same amount of emotion as would be used to discuss the daily fluctuations of the stock market - or, at best, it felt like story time on the mat. I was excited to hear a fellow Aussie and the sample was pretty decent. Didn't realise the next 6hrs would be so hard to get through.
I'm also firmly in camp 'Lane is too perfect'. They fell so instantly in love! It's too contrived. The children and Kym were definitely the best characters. I would much rather hear this from Kym's POV (with a different narrator).
I've since learned that the book ends with some crazy legal battle and (unnecessary) short-lived heartbreak. But it was too hard to invest in this story over the past 6 or so hours, and I don't have any desire to finish the next 8.5hrs.

Unremarkable
Thin story line, no meaningful attributes to characters or their lives. I was disappointed with all parts of this book.
