About this listen

Some people want their two front teeth or a hippopotamus for Christmas.

Not me. That would be too clichéd.

Then again, I never thought I’d stoop to sitting on Santa’s lap and asking him to bring me a boyfriend, either. In my defense, though, the man of my dreams had just knocked me into a store display 10 minutes prior, so I wasn’t exactly thinking straight.

Hah, but when did I ever.

I never thought I’d see Mr. Tall, Dark, and Handsome again, but it looked like fate - or Santa - had other plans when I ran into him the following night. Seemed like I might be getting my Christmas wish after all, right? Right.

So imagine my surprise when I showed up at my parents’ house for the holidays, only to find out that my sister had asked Santa for the exact same thing I did - and he’d delivered early.

Yep, my sister scored herself a handsome new boyfriend, and he’s absolutely perfect. He’s charming, my parents love him, and even Lucifer the demon cat tolerates him.

Oh, did I mention he also happens to be my dream guy? The one who’s supposed to be under my tree?

Yeah. Merry freakin’ Christmas to me. Someone pass the hot buttered rum.

Good romance

Good romance with a dash of comedy mixed in. Good short story. predictable story line but still good.

Very light & fluffy story

This was a very light & fluffy story, I really enjoyed listening to both of the narrator's performances of the characters which made the story more enjoyable overall, not sure I would have made it to the end otherwise.

Enjoyable escapism!

I don't really like paying for Novellas but I do enjoy listening to them, so that fact that this was a free listen was great.
Just a bit of fun, with those quirky coincidences that sometimes do start people on the road to True Love!
The only thing that puzzled me was when Christmas Day was actually going to arrive in regards to when the protagonists returned home.

Cheesy

Too cheesy, no sex and terrible story. Miles was written like he was a female, not a fan.

Unsatisfying festive romcom!

Miles sits on Santa’s lap for a joke and gets his wish for a cute guy granted when he kisses Aiden, the guy he just met, under the mistletoe at a party a few hours later. The next day at his parents’ house, he is introduced to his sister’s new boyfriend and is horrified to discover it’s Aiden, who is now going by the name of Sean. Although Miles and his sister soon straighten out the confusion, it’s going to be an awkward Christmas!

I found this romcom pretty frustrating and unsatisfying. Time and again, characters were given the chance to explain and didn’t, or couldn’t, say a few simple words to clear things up. Furthermore, the sister’s reasoning didn’t ring true, the family was very loving and accepting and didn’t need to be lied to. And finally, the story totally crossed the line from playful into silly, Miles’ family was totally over the top, their actions and reactions just didn’t strike me as believable. 🎧 Voice actors Wesley Paul and Perry Bishop narrated ok, but I have to say I didn’t even realise it was a dual narration (currently free on the Audible Plus catalogue)! 😂
